Many new users, before installing Windows 8 or windows 10 on their machines will ask themselves this – “is my computer compatible for windows 8 or windows 10?” I know this because I had the same issue and was wondering if I meet the requirements or not. Maybe for the first time ever, the system requirements for the PC/machine to run Windows 8 or windows 10 are not that “harsh”. In this article we will tell you about the requirements but also if your computer is compatible for Windows 8 or windows 10.

[Update]

Why upgrade to Windows 10?

Here are a few reasons why you should upgrade to Windows 10 if your computer is compatible with it :

Fast startup (faster than previous versions of Windows)

The ‘return’ of the start menu

Touchscreen support for all devices including PCs

A more compatible and faster browser

Xbox app on your PC (streaming, playing, buying)

Cortana assistant : easy communication with your device

Is your computer ready for Windows 8 or windows 10?

To help you get the answer to this question, Microsoft has prepared an Upgrade Assistant so that you could use to know if your PC is prepared for Windows 8 or windows 10. But before going into that, there’s one basic thing you need to check, albeit I’m sure that in this time and age, your machine most likely meets the system requirements to run Windows 8 or windows 10:

Processor: 1 GHz or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2

RAM: 1 GB 32-bit or 2 GB 64-bit

Hard disk space: 16 GB 32-bit or 20 GB 64-bit

Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

There are other system requirements for other miscellaneous feature, so be sure to check them out on the above mentioned link address. Obviously, you won’t be able to enjoy the touch experience of Windows 8 or windows 10on a non-touch device, so be sure to get informed on how to use it with a keyboard and mouse, even if it might seem like a real trouble in the beginning.

Microsoft tells you if your computer is prepared for Windows 8 or Windows 10

Download the Upgrade Assistant on this link, then let it scan your machine. It will perform a compatibility check and inform you of the results. So, the system requirements are the “raw” things that you need to know before upgrading your machine to Windows 8 or windows 10. And if you meet them (I could install it even on my Pentium IV PC…), then you should check if it’s also compatible with the programs. For a few minutes, you’ll see a print screen like this one:

Depending on how many apps or how fast your computer is, this step may take less or more minutes (just be patient). Now, what you need to know is that for those that currently have Windows 7 on their machines, their files will be automatically transferred, which is a great plus. Sadly, those that are running “veteran” operating systems, like Windows XP or Windows Vista will have to reinstall all those applications and will be getting a message like this one (I tested it on a XP machine to get the message):

So, it will inform you that the apps are compatible, but you’ll still have to reinstall all of them. Then you’ll be asked to choose what you want to keep: Windows settings and personal files, personal files or just nothing. And that’s about it. After that, you’ll be presented with an order button, so that you could buy Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows 8 Pro and finalize the upgrade.

Browsing the Internet has become second nature for most of us and we currently live in a period where it has become synonymous with pretty much everything we do.

Not only do we use it for shopping, or catching up with our friends and relatives, but it has also become a valuable work utensil.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started and hybrid work became the new normal, browsers and communication software have turned into new links between us and our fellow colleagues.

Consequently, out of all the popular browser choices we have out there, the big majority of users have decided to go with Google’s Chrome.

As a result, you don’t necessarily need to be running a Microsoft-powered operating system in order to be able to use Chrome, as the software works fine on others as well.

That being said, if you are trying to install Chrome on your iPad and you can’t, for some reason, you came to the right place to get that fixed.

Why won’t Chrome install on my iPad?

This can happen for a number of reasons, and we’re about to spill the beans. First of all, you should know that Chrome won’t be compatible with your iPad if your software is outdated.

The Google Chrome App has a minimum system requirement of iOS/iPadOS of 14.0 or later. As such, unless your iPad has iPadOS14 or later installed, you’ll not be able to install Chrome.

More so, you could also run low on space, which is another fact that could impede you from completing the installation.

In addition, a notable method to use if you want to bypass the Chrome incompatibility with your iPad is to change your current browser.

📌 Quick Tip:

As a suggestion, Opera One can bring valuable features to the table and quickly install them on your device. You get better privacy and faster navigation, plus trustful security with VPN support and a tracking ad blocker.

How do I install Google Chrome on my iPad?

Note that whether or not you are able to update any iPad to a newer version of iOS/iPadOS will be dictated by the iPad model itself, as well as the currently installed version of iOS.

So, if you want to check your software version, all you have to do is

Access Settings on your iPad.

Select General.

Tap the About button.

Hence, in order to update the software on your iPad to the required version for running Chrome, here’s what you have to do:

Access Settings on your iPad.

Select General.

Tap the Software Update button.

Here, you will see if any software updates are available and also install them, provided your device is compatible with the latest release.

2. Clear some space on your iPad

That being said, if you still need more space after you use the recommended actions, go ahead and delete apps and content that you don’t need.

3. Consider getting a newer version of iPad

As we mentioned above, Chrome needs iOS/iPadOS of 14.0 or later in order to work on your iPad. With that in mind, know that some models are never going to receive this software version.

For example, the following list contains the devices that can run iOS 14.0. However, if the Apple gadget you have is not on the list, you won’t be able to install the OS version or Chrome:

iPhone 6s & 6s Plus

iPhone SE (2023)

iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

iPhone 8 & 8 Plus

iPhone X

iPhone XR

iPhone XS & XS Max

iPhone 11

iPhone 11 Pro & 11 Pro Max

iPhone SE (2023)

iPhone 12, 12 Max, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max

This is what you have to do if Chrome is not working on your iPad. Hopefully, after going through our article you will be able to solve this annoying problem.

How To Set Up Wireless Network Connection On Windows Pc

Wireless networks allow you to work independently – without the tension of plugging in long wires that not only look bad in the house but also are a safety hazard. Since wireless signals travel in all directions and travel fast, you can use a wireless network to work from your bedroom or the porch of your home. This article explains how to set up a wireless network connection in Windows 11/10/8/7.

Inventory required to Set Up Wireless Network Connection

Since we are talking of a completely wireless network, we need the following items to set up a wireless network connection:

An operating system that supports wireless networking. Windows is a good operating system that allows you to create wireless networks without any problems.

A fast Internet connection: You can go for either a DSL or cable broadband. In most cases, the cable or DSL router (see point 3 below) is provided by the ISP who also sets up an Internet connection. Normally, the connection from the wall jack (in the case of DSL) and hub (in the case of cable) is wired to the router from where wireless signals take over for communication.

A wireless router: Since we need a wireless network, we will need a wireless router. Check to see if your ISP can give you one. If not, you can get a wireless router from any computer market. Make sure you buy a reputed product for better results. Routers are available in different technologies. I suggest 802.11g or 802.11n for better connectivity and good signals. Routers using the mentioned technologies are more compatible with network adaptors of different companies. Make sure that you are buying a wireless router and not wireless access points. The latter is used to expand existing wired networks and does not serve the purpose of wireless routers.

Wireless Adaptors: Most computers now come with built-in wireless adaptors. They are usually towards the front of laptops and computers and carry a switch that you can turn on and off to enable and disable network connectivity. If your computer does not have one, you can buy wireless adaptors from a computer store. I suggest that you buy USB wireless adaptors as they are quick and easy to install. Also, you can use them with different computers, unlike the card-type adaptors that need to be installed on the motherboards. Also, when buying wireless network adaptors, make sure they match the network technology of the router you are using in the network. That is, if you are using an 802.11n router, your network adaptors should also be 802.11n. This ensures better connectivity.

To check if your computer has wireless network adaptors, proceed with the following steps:

Open Control Panel

If your computer has a wireless network adaptor, it will show you a network icon saying Wireless Network Connection.

Setting Up Wireless Internet Connection on Windows PC

Most ISPs set up an Internet connection when you take a new connection. If your ISP did not set up the Internet for you, follow these steps (assumes your modem includes a wireless router):

Plug one end of the phone wire into the phone jack provided on the router’s back

Plug the other end of the phone wire into the wall jack of the phone connection. If you are using a splitter, connect this end of the phone wire to the splitter socket that says DSL. You can then use another phone wire to connect the splitter to the wall jack of the phone

Plug the router into an electrical socket.

Turn on the main computer that you will use to set up admin privileges.

Open Control Panel. If it is not in the Icon view, switch to the Icon view.

If your modem is different from a wireless router, you will need to connect a phone wire – one end into the modem and another end into a phone jack or splitter. You can then connect the modem to a wireless router using a network cable. You can then follow steps 4 to 7 mentioned above. It should look somewhat like the image below.

At this point, your main computer should be able to connect to the Internet. If it is not connecting to the Internet, the connections must be wrong. Check the Network and Sharing window in Control Panel to see if Windows 7 can detect the wireless network (see figure 1 above). If not, make sure the modem/router is properly connected and switched on.

Related: How to add a new Wi-Fi Network Profile in Windows.

Securing The Network

Assuming that the main computer is now able to connect to the Internet, we will go ahead and configure the network for security.

The wizard will walk you through a series of steps to configure your network

Copy the security key to some safe place so that you can use it when setting up other computers in the network. You will also need it later when you wish to make changes to the network

Setting Up Other Computers On The Network

Select your network (recognized by the name you provided in the wizard above)

Windows will ask you for the password. Enter the password you saved in step 7 above.

Setting Up Sharing On The Network

You have to turn on sharing on all computers, including the ones having devices such as printers and scanners so that you can use them from any computer on the network. The following applies to each computer on the network

Note that you can share files by copying them into Public folder in Windows 7. The Public folder is available in C:Users folder.

Windows 8.1 laptop users have been struck with backlight problems on their keyboards. Issues with backlit keyboards have been more present in Windows 8 but they are now back in Windows 8.1

I have recently bought a new Windows 8 laptop and it comes with a backlight-powered keyboard, so when I heard that problems with this kind of keyboards have been reported online, I started analyzing them with care. Actually, a good friend of mine has been complaining that after the Windows 8.1 update,  the backlit keyboard seems stuck in battery mode. Here are some more problems reported.

I bought a MacBook Air today. Installed Windows 8.1. Installed all the drivers. Everything is workign great – but no backlit keyboard functionality.

Somebody has problems with their MacBookAir, as we can see, and this is not a first for Apple users. We have previously reported that Windows 8.1 Install Fails on New 2013 Retina MacBook and there were reported several iTunes crashes with Windows 8.1, as well. This time, an Asus owner is complaining:

I’m having issues with my Asus g73jh and the keyboard. Also other issues but I am guessing it starts with the keyboard not able to use the FN hot keys. I tried installing the drivers etc. Also just to throw in, I did a dual boot since I have 2 hard drives I have windows 7 on one and 8 on the other. Anyone have this kind of issue? I can’t get the keyboard lights to turn on, can’t dim the screen or use any other function. Everything else seems to be working fine.

And the problem is also affecting a Dell user. Recently, Dell XPS 15 owners have been reporting Shutdown Problems in Windows 8.1.

Read Also: Install Windows 8.1 on SSD – Steps to Follow

From what I’ve read and all the solutions I’ve seen, it seems that updating the BIOS should have the desired effect and your problems with they backlight on your keyboard should be fixed. Also, what I’d suggest is to check your power settings, as there’s a chance your laptop might be going in idle mode. Besides this, if you know any working fixes, do let us know and we will share it with the community.

If you cannot fix the issue you might seriously think about getting a new, separate keyboard. I had the same problem and right now I am writing from a Logitech K780 and must say that it’s even better for my laptop since I don’t have to tap directly on its surface thus not producing any vibrations, which are bad for HDD. I chose this path because I am too lazy to search for a fix, and bought this keyboard model. If you see the things as I do, here are some handpicked keyboard lists for specific purposes:

Sony Launches 1000Xm4 Wireless Headphones With Improved Noise Cancellation For $349.99

If you’re in the market for a pair of new truly wireless over-ear headphones, and don’t want to wait for Apple’s oft-rumored option, then Sony’s here to give you an option.

Sony impressed a lot of people with the 1000XM3 wireless headphones, and still to this day they remain some of the best truly wireless over-ear headphones you can buy. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that Sony is coming out with something newer, and something better, with the brand new 1000XM4. They come in white and black, still offer the same truly wireless design with the over-ear design, class-leadings noise cancellation, and plenty of features.

Pre-orders are live starting today, which are available on Amazon. Price is set at $349.99. The landing page for the new headphones say they will begin shipping on August 21, 2023. You can see Sony’s official product video for the 1000XM4 headphones below.

The nitty gritty

The WH-1000XM4 don’t look any different from the 1000XM3, so don’t expect any design changes in that regard. However, Sony is improving other key areas. You’ll still get wireless connectivity with your devices via Bluetooth, but now you can actually connect to two different devices at the same time.

Interestingly, the Q1N processor meant to handle noise cancellation is the same in the newer headphones, but Sony says its already class-leading noise cancellation has been improved in the 1000XM4 headphones. They achieved this by including a new Bluetooth audio system that analyzes surrounding ambient noise and the music coming through the speakers 700 times per second. Sony tweaked the algorithm, too, and the end result is a more improved noise cancellation experience that can better quiet mid-frequency sounds from beyond the headphones, as well as voices.

The one area that Sony isn’t going out of its way to say has been improved is the sound quality. The new 1000XM4 headphones use the same 40mm drivers as the XM3’s, so it sounds like (no pun intended) that the audio quality is the same as the previous generation headphones. The good news here is that the 1000XM3’s sounded great, so this shouldn’t be a weak spot for the new headphones.

As far as battery life is concerned, you should get around 30 hours on a single charge.

Features

With the “Speak-to-Chat” feature, Sony says the new 1000XM4 headphones can intelligently determine when you’re speaking to someone, and the music or other media you’re listening to will automatically stop playing. This means you can have the conversation quickly and easily without having to take off the headphones. Here’s how Sony describes it:

With Adaptive Sound Control, the headphones can “sense where you are and what you’re doing”. The headphones will automatically adjust the ambient sound settings accordingly. Sony’s examples here include standing on a train platform and being able to hear announcements while still managing to limit other ambient noises. Walking? The headphones will adjust accordingly so you can still listen to your music, but still be aware of the noises all around you.

The headphones can even learn your favorite, most-visited locations and adjust the sound profile to match:

Over time, Adaptive Sound Control learns to recognize locations that you frequently visit, such as your workplace, the gym, or a favorite café, and tailors sound to suit the situation.

These new headphones sound incredible, especially for fans of the over-ear design. The $349.99 price tag may be enough to get some potential customers to balk at, but this is a pretty standard price point for this type of headphone, especially with all the features packed into it.

And, looking ahead, if Apple is indeed planning on launching over-ear headphones, the 1000XM3 and XM4 are the cans the company should try to improve upon, especially if they’re going to be priced similarly.
