Suggested December 2023 Weekly Helps You Keep Track Of Tasks And Goals

There are some tasks that need to be taken care of only once. Those can easily be listed in any format, including the good old-fashioned pencil and paper method. Other tasks are meant to be done every day. They are more like goals than tasks. Nonetheless, they still need to be tracked.

Weekly is a task tracker that makes it incredibly simple for you to add content, update activities, and see your progress at a glance. We’ve got an app review of Weekly for you today to see if it is something you’d be interested in…

The app’s design is simple with the main screen showing a list of your daily tasks alongside a quick view of the week’s activities, including your current progress and the average number of items you should take care of each day.

Pull down on the main screen to see an overview of your week’s progress with a handy visual grid to give you an idea of your progress. In this section, you can also view your total task-tracking statistic by tapping the arrow next to the percentage. This window looks much like the weekly progress tracker, but is updated for all weeks you’ve been tracking your tasks.

Back on the main screen, tap a task to log an activity, delete a log, edit the task, or view a weekly progress report for that specific item. Similar to the weekly and overall progress trackers, you can see a graph of your activities, including the number of times logged, the number of weeks logged, the percentage of completed for the week, and the weekly average for the current week as compared to the previous week.

App Use

The point of this app is to help you meet weekly goals. If you want to drink eight glasses of water per day, workout at least three times per week, or eat vegetables with every dinner meal, this will help you keep track so you can accomplish your goals. If you need to remember to water the lawn every Tuesday and Saturday, this app will not help. It doesn’t send reminders or even give you the option of picking specific days to complete tasks. The power is in its simplicity.

You can only perform a task a total of 15 times in one week, so if your goal is to drink eight glasses of water per day, the task would be labeled as “Drink eight glasses of water” and you would only mark it as completed if you reached the number you were shooting for.

Once you’ve added your tasks and marked how many times per week you’d like to perform them, you are ready to go. When you’ve completed a task, tap it to open the log screen, which appears directly below the item. Tap the solid circle to add a log for an item. You can also swipe to the right to quickly log activities. Tap the “X” to remove a log.

In this section, you can also edit the task activity. You can rename it, change the frequency, delete it, archive it, or disable it for one week.

To view the progress report for an individual task, tap the graph icon under it. You can also access individual task graphs by swiping to the left. As noted above, the infograph will show you the frequency and how many times you’ve completed a task, the percentage completed for the week, the number of weeks you’ve been tracking the goal, and the average of this week as compared to last week’s progress.

Tap the arrow next to the goal/completed graph to see the last time you logged an activity and change the frequency if you so desire.

Once you’ve made it through a week, you’ll be able to view an infograph that shows the percentage and number of tasks you’ve completed. Every week, the progress report is saved so you can view it at any time.

If you need help remembering to log your tasks, set a reminder. In the settings section, turn on the switch to receive a reminder. You can set the time and get one additional reminder on Sunday before the progress report is officially completed and archived.

The Good

Because this app is so simple, it is very easy to log your activities. With one swipe, you can track your progress. Plus, if you are like me and forget about that stuff during the day, the reminder will help you log your activities at a specific time so you don’t have to double up the next day.

The Bad

You can’t edit the day that you’ve completed a task. If you do forget to log it on a Tuesday, you can’t go back to add it. The task will appear on the day you logged it. This isn’t such a big deal since the graph is intended to show weekly progress. However, the number of tasks you perform in a day is listed on each day of the week. I’d like to be able to drag and drop to change the day I log a task.

Weekly is free to download. There are no in-app purchases. You don’t have to sign up to use it. You can keep track of your goals without having to pay a penny. I’d call that a good investment.

I love this app. It is perfect for quickly keeping track of daily and weekly goals. However, there is not much to it. Don’t go into this project thinking you’ll be able to create complex lists with details and reminders. The intent is to keep it simple, which this app does well. Download it in the App Store today.

How The Galaxy Watch Helps Keep Workers Safe And Customers Satisfied

A great team functions in the same way in business as it does on the sports field — with each player in sync, performing their own role, all supporting the same goal. Without communication, your team is uncoordinated and inaccurate, frequently dropping the ball at critical moments. And, in today’s mobile economy, the tempo of the game has been raised, with greater expectations for speed of execution, information sharing and personalization.

This is why I’m so excited about the potential of wearables in the enterprise; smart wrist-worn devices, like our new Galaxy Watch, are at the leading edge of team communication, collaboration, safety and digital transformation.

Smartwatches are unique from other mobile devices in several ways: they are hands-free and instantly accessible, they have built-in sensors that can monitor the wearer’s vitals and movements at all times, and they can deliver discreet alerts or updates using haptic feedback. In work settings where safety or speed of communication is important, smartwatches can deliver tremendous value.

Refining Wearables for the Enterprise

Available in two sizes – 46mm or 42mm – they both feature brilliant, outdoor-ready displays, a rotating bezel that makes it easy to operate (even with gloves on), and are tested to MIL-STD-810G standards for those working in rugged, tough environments.

Businesses can choose from models with a built-in LTE cell radio for standalone use, or Bluetooth phone-tethered options. Long battery life is key requirement for enterprises, and we’ve been able to extend this to up to five days for the larger, 46mm model.

To configure, secure and manage your fleet of wearables, enterprises can make use of Samsung’s Knox Configure solution (licensed separately) and Knox security, which is built in at the chip level and accessed through Knox APIs. We’ve been refining our enterprise wearables for several generations and have a solution in the Galaxy Watch that is truly business-ready.

So, in which industries are we seeing the greatest difference made through adoption of smartwatches? While there are a diverse range of industry use cases, there are few that stand out, where wearables make an extraordinary difference.

Elevating the Customer Experience in Retail and Hospitality

In the hospitality and retail industries, customer experience is paramount. Wearable devices make it easier and faster for hotel staff, retail associates and restaurant servers to send alerts and notifications regarding issues that impact the customer experience. Wearables work better than other mobile devices in these use cases because they’re worn rather than carried, and therefore always on, always available and responses can be virtually instantaneous.

Busy staff members are often forced to set aside tablets or smartphones while they focus on getting rooms cleaned or keeping shelves stocked, so they don’t always get the most important alerts in time to respond to customer issues. But with notifications always received instantly on a smartwatch — even when staff have their hands busy — hotels and stores can better triage the importance of tasks and keep customer experience at the highest priority.

Customizing Wearables in the Workplace

Additionally, because the new Galaxy Watch looks like a typical wristwatch, customers don’t perceive that the staff is distracted with messages on a device. This allows team members to maintain focus on the customer while also ensuring they get all necessary notifications on time.

Keep Workers Safe and Secure

Another innovative use of wearables is to protect and monitor workers in dangerous environments. With a GPS, heart rate and gyro sensors, and LTE connectivity, the Galaxy Watch can be used to monitor worker safety and respond automatically to certain behaviors.

For example, police dispatch can continuously monitor the vital signs, physical location and movements of officers in the field. Alert notifications can be programmed to trigger when an officer’s heart rate changes rapidly, they exit their vehicle, or perform specific movements, allowing dispatch to make real-time decisions about the officer’s safety and send backup when and where needed. Using a combination of sensors, the smartwatch can even be used to detect when an officer starts a foot pursuit and use that information to automatically alert dispatch and trigger the body camera to activate. In such cases, having standalone LTE connectivity is critical, as it ensures that the officer remains connected and in communication at all times with dispatch.

Remote workers or those in dangerous work environments can also be located and monitored in a similar manner to ensure their safety on the job. With the ability of the device to send alerts or notifications based on a variety of physical data, workers can get help when needed, even if they can’t use their hands to request it.

Gain More Insights Into Health and Wellness

From corporate health and wellness programs to healthcare clinicians, staff, insurers and payers, the smartwatch is becoming an important tool in helping people improve their health outcomes and lower the cost of healthcare. The Galaxy Watch further aids this goal with sensors that can continuously monitor a person’s heart rate, and deliver better insights about both the length and quality of sleep they’re getting, as well as additional health data. During the day, the watch is tracking and recording, giving you an accurate read of how stressed you are and at what times, in addition to all of the fitness tracking information that’s now standard with the Galaxy Watch.

And because it’s built on the Knox security platform, the Galaxy Watch can securely share data with compliant cloud systems and partners, giving healthcare entities peace of mind about the security of the devices and the data.

The bottom line? Don’t make your patients inconvenience and encumber themselves for medical help — make their care a positive addition to their life.

At the end of the day, wearables are intended to improve the productivity, safety and well-being of your employees and customers. But let’s be honest: it doesn’t hurt if they look cool while doing it. The Galaxy Watch’s sleek yet traditional design and manifold options for personalization make it a desirable accessory on almost anyone’s wrist.

Who’d have thought that the best leg up in your industry would be worn on your wrist?

From healthcare to hospitality, learn more about how wearables are transforming the modern workplace.

Pagico 8.7 Helps You Make Better Plans And Actually Stick To Them

If you haven’t heard about Pagico before, it’s a productivity app that allows individuals and team members to easily manage all their tasks, files and notes across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Ubuntu and Android devices.

Now bumped to version 8.7, the app sports some interesting new features designed to help you be more productive and stay on track with support for sub-containers, enhanced container duplication features, smart filters, teammate filters, improved email handling and printing, plus a lot more.

But first, here’s a quick video walkthrough of Pagico 8.7.

To simplify managing large projects with lots of sub-projects, Pagico 8.7 supports sub-containers.

With sub-containers, you can finally add sub-projects or links to contacts right inside any project or contact. Because the timeline is integrated, you get to see your full workload from the master project’s timeline.

The container duplication process can now be invoked via a new shortcut in the contextual menu. And when duplicating a container, you can now choose to clone linked containers and perform bespoke data adjustments—which should be helpful when creating project templates and making copies of the entire structure.

Speaking of containers, tapping a container item from search results will now bring up a preview panel to show details instead of going to the container directly. As a bonus, inline links to containers now come with rich previews that show you key information about the target.

The filtering system available inside containers is more flexible than before with new options for sorting items by date (due date, upcoming, overdue, someday or undated), status (checked or unchecked) or your tags (you can mix these filtering options).

Another Mac-specific enhancement in this edition of Pagico: an all-new rendering engine for silky smooth visuals on macOS Yosemite 10.10 or later. By the way, owners of earlier Mac systems that run macOS Yosemite or older should download a special edition of Pagico that’s optimized for these computers.

Windows-specific improvements in Pagico 8.7 include the ability to drop emails from Microsoft Outlook onto the Pagico window, plus some additional features available when you invoke the Print dialog.

Rounding up the list of new features in Pagico 8.7, the app includes support for the Russian language.

Last but not least, developers have included some nice-to-haves for team members and administrators, such as filtering content based on teammates and the ability for workspace owners to easily take ownership of containers created on other devices.

All told, Pagico 8.7 packs more than a dozen new features and over 50 improvements to make your experience more flexible, powerful and user-friendly.

To learn more about this app, visit the official Pagico website.

Pagico for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is available free on App Store. The iOS client requires iOS 9.0 or later while the desktop app requires an Intel-based Mac with macOS Mavericks or later.

Existing users can upgrade to Pagico 8.7 for $25. For new users, Pagico is $50. A free trial of the app is available via the official Pagico website. Team leaders and members should check out Pagico for Teams.

Pagico is running a limited-time offer where everyone can get $10 off, making the upgrade price only $15, and new licenses only $40. Get it now as it won’t last long!

What Business Expenses Should You Track?

Business expenses include the cost of goods sold along with the ordinary and necessary operational expenses associated with keeping a business running.

Separating business finances from personal finances helps you track your business expenses more effectively.

Tracking business expenses is essential for maintaining healthy cash flow and qualifying for tax deductions that could reduce your taxable income.

This article is for aspiring entrepreneurs and new small business owners who want to improve their accounting practices with careful expense tracking.

Keeping tabs on business finances – including tracking specific business-related expenses – is crucial to running a business. Proper accounting improves cash flow, the oxygen your business needs to survive. Additionally, careful expense tracking helps your company qualify for valuable tax deductions that reduce your adjusted gross income. Here’s what you need to know about business expenses and how to track them.

What are business expenses?

Business expenses are expenditures directly related to starting a business and maintaining operations. Business expense examples include inventory purchases, payroll, salaries and office rent.

Business expenses fall into one of two categories:

Cost of goods sold (COGS)

Operating expenses

“There are two types of business expenses: cost of goods sold, which are costs associated with making your product; and operating expenses, which include rent, salaries, business licenses and permits, and self-employment taxes,” explained Jeff Fazio, head of small business specialists at TD Bank.

Separating business expenses from personal expenses is crucial for proper small business tax management because business expenses can help you qualify for tax deductions. Tax deductions are applied to your taxable income, potentially lowering the overall rate you’ll pay.

“Business expenses are ordinary and necessary costs a business incurs to operate,” noted Nicholas Holmes, founder of Product Reviewer. “Businesses need to track and categorize their expenditures because some expenses can count as tax deductions, resulting in significant cost savings.”

Did You Know?

Tax deductions should not be confused with tax credits, such as research and development tax credits, which are applied directly to your tax bill, not your taxable income.

Check with your accountant about crazy but legal tax deductions. For example, limos, gym memberships, pets and even hair dye may qualify – under the right circumstances.

Key Takeaway

Check out our review of Zoho Books if you need an accounting solution for a very small business. If you need a more robust solution, read our in-depth review of QuickBooks Online – our choice as the best accounting software for small businesses.

3. Manage your receipts.

In addition to digitally tracking expenses, take photos of physical receipts for cash payments or payments made on a personal credit card. For example, if an employee takes a client out for lunch and pays with their card, ask them to record the transaction by taking a photo of the receipt and sending it to you for your records.

Other physical receipts to track include car mileage, train tickets for commutes, internet bills and other reimbursement expenses.

Consider using receipt-tracking tools for your business. For example, the Expensify app can automatically read a photo of a receipt and convert it to a logged expense.

What are the benefits of tracking business expenses?

Tracking business expenses has benefits beyond qualifying for tax deductions. Here are a few notable ones.

1. Tracking business expenses helps you understand your business’s cash flow.

Business owners can more easily understand cash flow – an essential business survival factor – when they accurately track expenses.

“One of the primary reasons why most businesses fail is the mismanagement of the cash flows,” Holmes warned. “Owners can manage their cash flows through daily expense management so that expenses don’t outstrip the income at the end of the month.”

2. Tracking business expenses demonstrates your business’s profitability.

Effectively tracking business expenses allows business owners to gauge how well their business is doing by illuminating its profit margin. Tracking can also provide a clear financial record to lenders, improving the chances that a business can secure the funding it needs to grow.

“The percentage of profit tells how much a company is generating money and helps attract the investors, funds the day-to-day activities and aids in getting financing,” Holmes explained. “Every business wants to be profitable at a glance, but many struggle to calculate it, as they don’t keep accurate records of their income and expenses.”

3. Tracking business expenses identifies potential cost savings.

Good accounting software can help you separate unreimbursed expenses from deductible expenses, allowing you to tag specific line items by expense category. This includes tags like personal expenses, entertainment expenses, meal expenses, travel expenses and capital expenses. Separating expenses is helpful for reporting purposes at the end of the tax year and allows you to examine your business expenses on a granular level and determine where you might find cost savings.

4. Tracking business expenses keeps you within your budget.

As a business owner, understanding your budget is crucial to making the right financial decisions. Tracking your expenses will give you further insight into how much money you’re spending, what you’re spending money on and whether your current budget needs adjusting.

For instance, perhaps your expenses are higher than anticipated. You might need to increase your budget or cut back on spending to ensure you stay within your budget. Either way, this knowledge helps keep you financially aware.

5. Tracking business expenses improves employee satisfaction.

By tracking your business expenses, you can more quickly reimburse employees for out-of-pocket expenses like travel, commuting, meals, business supplies and training materials. Offering this reimbursement perk to employees can act as a recruitment and retention incentive. Employees will feel more valued and satisfied if their business expenses are covered.

Tracking business expenses is crucial to success

If you are starting a business or looking to grow in the near future, you must track your business expenses meticulously and transparently. You’ll be able to reduce your taxable income and better manage your business.

When cash flow suffers, review your business expenses and find areas where you can cut expenses. Conversely, when your business is doing well, you can examine where you have opportunities to invest in growth.

Tracking business expenses can also help you demonstrate to lenders that your business is fiscally responsible and can be a trusted borrower when you need financing.

Poise And Luxury On The Track

Audi A4 ’09 On the Track

The A4, a small but growing luxury sedan, isn’t quite in the same league as the Taurus, which at its peak had a larger following than Thin Mints. It is, however, Audi’s number-one model range. The Volkswagen-owned luxury brand aims to clock 1.5 million sales per year worldwide by 2023, and without a highly desirable A4 it has as much a chance of hitting that mark as John McCain does solving the scramble in American Cheerleader. No pressure there.

Audi A4 ’09 Interior

The new A4 is far larger and roomier than before, with measurements within striking distance of the company’s midsize A6. The outgoing A4’s cramped rear seating area has given way to quarters spacious enough even for the lengthiest gams. At 185.2 inches long, the A4 is seven inches longer than the 3-Series, with a wheelbase nearly two inches longer. An even more noteworthy difference is in the rearward golf-club storage receptacle (i.e., trunk). The A4’s cavernous, 17 cubic feet of space exceeds that of the BMW 328i sedan, which can handle 12 cubic feet’s worth of MacGregor product. By comparison, the Lexus ES 350’s trunk displaces 14.7 cubic feet.

Audi is also betting on technology to give the A4 flexibility in the marketplace. Chiefly, that’s by way of an option dubbed Audi Drive Select. That’s the umbrella term for a set of functions that tune the A4’s Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension, dynamic steering and engine and transmission responses. CDC can lower ride height and modulate the amount of damping in each shock from stiff to boaty. Dynamic steering adapts the steering ratio and resistance depending on need or desire. At slow speeds or winding roadways, the steering stays sharp and crisp, but on the freeway, the ratio flips and inputs generate progressively less-intense turning reactions. The system also alters engine and transmission responses from languid to punchy. Drive Select settings include Comfort, Auto or Dynamic, but we found a nice, predictable track-friendly mix by combining dynamic engine, transmission and steering settings with the comfort suspension setting. It’s all controlled with Audi’s answer to BMW’s much-maligned iDrive system, called the Multimedia Interface (MMI). Sure, it all adds up to what software engineers like to call “feature creep,” but in the luxury market the mantra is (or should be) gadgetry is king.

Ride With Tiptronic Help

A freshly tweaked Quattro drivetrain and new suspension tuning options keep the ’09 A4 swift in the corners.

It’s no surprise Audi’s called us out here at Infineon; it is on high-grade tarmac that the 2009 A4 best displays its poise. The new model shares a fresh skeleton with Audi’s latest two-door A5 and S5. This Modular Longitudinal Chassis (MLB, in German) enabled a major change in the A4’s drivetrain positioning. Compared with the outgoing model, the new A4’s engine has been nudged rearward, shifting its weight behind the front axle. This simple adjustment has had a dramatic effect of equalizing load distribution. The results are both visual and tactile. The A4’s characteristic front overhang has been lessened, which mitigates the ’08 car’s bucktoothed profile. More important to drivers is the degree to which the change erases much of the plowing, or understeer, that plagued previous A4s when pushed hard in a corner. This change is most evident on the tarmac of Infineon Raceway, where we detect so little of the previous A4’s signature nose-heaviness that the car feels at times nearly indistinguishable from the BMW 3-Series it has in its sights. And by using a new, thinner grade of high-strength steel, Audi says it’s cut the A4’s body-shell weight by 10 percent, while making it 5% more rigid.

The second major change regards the company’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which is now 40/60 rear-biased (no longer 50/50), and comes with a self-locking center differential. It’s a simpler system than other companies’ new vectoring clockworks that distribute torque actively to all four corners, like BMW’s Dynamic Performance Control or Acura’s SH-AWD. But its machinations are seamless and often mitigate the need for the intrusion of electronic traction control. The latest version of Audi’s aging Tiptronic automatic transmission has six (count ’em) gears and can be set to react as quickly and cleanly as many dual-clutch manu-matics or lazily enough to keep grandma’s pies from spilling over in the trunk. It’s not a liability. Don’t expect a six-speed manual in the US, though–not enough demand.

Under the Hood

Moving the engine rearward in comparison to the outgoing model optimizes weight distribution and slims design lines in front.

Another cool bit of mechanical kit on the ’09 A4 is the Audi Valve-lift System, or AVS. It’s a bonk-yourself-on-the-head simple mechanism that shifts the intake cam laterally by seven millimeters, engaging a higher-profile lobe and changing valve lift from 5.7 mm to 11 mm. AVS kicks in without fanfare between 700 and 4000 rpms, sharpening engine response up noticeably.
