Suggested March 2024 How To Use The Firefox “Inspect Element” Tool To Examine A Site

If you have ever wanted to know how your favorite websites are structured, a browser’s “Inspect” services can be a hidden blessing. We’ve covered Chrome’s “Inspect” tool, and Firefox comes with a similar offering, too.

The Firefox “Inspect Element” tool can help you investigate the underpinnings of a website’s operation, including the HTML and CSS elements it uses, its load on the network, the latency of its loading elements, and the files it puts in storage, such as cookies.

Experienced developers may not find much new in this primer. Novices and everyday web users, however, should find a new, powerful side to Firefox’s capabilities and a deep well of files and operations that sit beneath every site on the Internet.

Major Linux distros likely come with Firefox pre-installed or have copies of Firefox in their Software center/package repositories which the user can easily install.

Opening “Inspect Element”

If you scroll through that right-side panel, you can see the properties it inherited from other elements. You can even change the properties in that window and see them appear on the webpage in real time.

Style Editor

Here you can see the two style sheet files DuckDuckGo uses, the elements of the first selected style sheet, and that sheet’s various “@media” rules, which govern responsive design for smaller and larger screens.

You can edit these style sheets just like you can in the “Inspector” section. In this case there are a lot of rules to choose from – 1262 rules in the first style sheet alone.

If you navigate even further in the toolbar to the “Network Monitor,” you will find the website’s requests for those files and their statuses. Other elements such as images and fonts may also be present in that tab, and you can see all those requests and the size of each file after the request has been processed.

For this site you can see the highlighted DOM event, a mouseover, took 6.03 milliseconds in duration to load. The average FPS for this page was about 39. And the chart showing my range of response times reached 9000 milliseconds for some events.

You can see in the right-side panel that this particular cookie expires in the middle of the next decade and that I accessed it during the session of writing this article.

There’s a lot to wade through when using the Firefox inspector. This introduction to its multiple parts should keep you busy for a while.

Take some time to change a site’s HTML elements. Visit a few different websites to see their loading times. Find out how many cookies a particular page tries to store on your machine. At times, that information can give you pause.

Hopefully, this journey of discovery will give you a greater understanding of what websites do so that they can function as you expect. It may be much more than you previously realized.

How To Use The Reset Windows Update Tool

Updating a Windows computer isn’t all roses. While some Windows update glitches are quite easy to fix, others can be challenging. Interestingly, there are third-party troubleshooting programs that can fix almost all Windows Update problems.

The “Reset Windows Update Tool” is one example. In this tutorial, we’ll review the tool, focusing on its capabilities, installation procedure, features, and use cases.

Table of Contents

What Does the Reset Windows Update Tool Do?

The Reset Windows Update Tool (RWUT) is a multifaceted utility that not only resolves potential issues affecting Windows updates, but also helps to repair corrupt system files, replace missing registry keys, force Group Policy update, resolve problems with the Microsoft Store, and much more.

Fundamentally, the RWUT consolidates all potential fixes for Windows update issues and other associated problems in one interface. It grants users direct access to hidden system tools like the System File Checker, Check Disk Utility, Windows Component Store, etc.

The tool has no graphical interface but it is super easy to use and compatible with devices running Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11.

Installing the Reset Windows Update Tool

If you’re unsure of your PC’s processor type, refer to our comprehensive tutorial that details different ways to tell if you’re using a 32-Bit or 64-Bit computer.

From experience, some browsers like Microsoft Edge may block the file download because the app is unrecognized and “could harm your device.” That’s Microsoft Edge’s “SmartScreen” security tool being overprotective. The file is safe and you have nothing to worry about. To bypass the SmartScreen restriction, select the three-dot menu icon next to the setup file and select Keep. That’ll unblock the file and download it to your PC.

Run the setup file and follow the prompts to install the RWUT on your PC. The instruction on the installation page recommends closing all Windows apps and other third-party programs before running the setup.

Close the setup window when you get a success message. Afterward, launch the Reset Windows Update Tool to explore its feature or use it to fix system problems.

How To Use the Reset Windows Update Tool

You’ll be prompted to select your preferred language when you open the program for the first time. You can always change the language and other customizations like font color in the app’s settings menu.

In the “Select an option” row, type the number that corresponds to your preferred language and press Enter.

You’ll also need to accept the tool’s usage terms and conditions to proceed. The T&C’s basically state that although the features of the tool work, the developer will not take any responsibility for any damage to your device.

Type Y in the “Do you want to continue with this process?” row and press Enter to continue.

The main menu has about 19 options and commands. The command to run will depend on the problem your PC is facing. To perform an operation, type the number that corresponds to the command you want to run and press Enter.

Before you run any command, go through the next section to have an idea of what each option does and the changes they make to your computer.

Reset Windows Update Tool: Features & Use Cases

Here’s a cursory highlight of some troubleshooting operations you can run with this tool.

1. Open the System Protection

This is a shortcut to Windows System Protection—a Windows section where you can create restore points, configure restore settings, and manage disk space.

Type 1 in the terminal and press Enter. That’ll immediately open the Windows System Protection window.

2. Reset Windows Update Components

What this option does is fix issues preventing your PC from updating Windows. If, for instance, Windows takes forever to check for new updates, or your PC won’t install new Windows updates, running the command in the RWUT can resolve the problems.

All you need to do is type 2 (or the corresponding digit next to the “Reset the Windows Update Components” option) and press Enter.

The tool will reset your PC’s Windows Update component by restarting the Windows Update services, Application Identity service, Cryptographic Services, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), and other services that help your PC install Windows updates. The operation will also delete old software distribution copies and replace corrupt or missing files needed to update your computer.

Press any key on your keyboard and try updating your PC again.

3. Delete Temporary Files

Windows creates different types of temporary files (caches system files, application data, error reports and feedbacks, internet files, etc.) as you use your PC. These files can take up a huge chunk of storage, hence deleting them regularly is a good way to free up disk space in Windows.

Deleting temporary files with the RWUT is as easy as typing 3 (or whatever digit corresponds to the Delete the temporary files in Windows option) in the terminal and pressing Enter.

4. Open Internet Explorer Option

The tool also provides a shortcut to access the “Internet Properties” menu in Windows devices. Type 4 in the terminal and press Enter.

That’ll open the Internet Properties window where you can manage VPN and proxy connections, pop-up blocker, browser add-ons, and other information like browsing history, cookies, passwords, web form info, etc.

5. Run Chkdsk on the Windows Partition

The Check Disk Utility (chkdsk) is a built-in system tool that fixes damaged system files, faulty sectors on the hard disk, and other issues preventing the installation of Windows updates. You can run the Check Disk utility from the RWUT instead of having to type lengthy commands in the Command Prompt.

On the app dashboard, type 5 (or the digit that corresponds to Runs Chkdsk on the Windows partition) and press Enter.

6. Run the System File Checker

The System File Checker (SFC) is another built-in Windows tool that scans for system file corruption and repairs/replaces missing or damaged system files. You can also run the System File Checker from the RWUT instead of having to run multiple commands in Command Prompt.

Type 6 in the app terminal, press Enter and follow the recommendations on the results page.

You might need to reboot your computer to complete or execute pending system repairs.

7. Scan for Component Store Corruption

The “Component Store” houses the files and functions required to customize and update Windows. Problems with files in the Component Store can cause Windows update issues. The RWUT can fix Component Store corruption at the push of a button.

Type 7 in the “Select an option” row and press Enter.

8. Reset the Microsoft Store

Are you unable to download apps from the Microsoft Store? Or, you can’t access the app store because your computer won’t open Microsoft Store app? Resetting the Microsoft Store via the RWUT can fix the problem.

Launch the tool, type 13 (or whatever digit corresponds to Reset Microsoft Windows Store), and press Enter.

The command will clear the Microsoft Store’s cache and fix any underlying problems. The Microsoft Store app will open when the reset operation is successful.

9. Check Your Product Key

Finding your PC’s product key has never been easier. You don’t need to check your PC’s retail box, instruction manual, or your Microsoft account’s order history. Launch the RWUT, type 16 in the terminal or dashboard, and press Enter. Your PC’s product key will appear on the screen instantly.

The All-Round Tool

The features of the Reset Windows Update Tool aren’t limited to what we listed above. There are more shortcuts, options, and operations that the program can execute. The “Explore location solutions” option, for instance, will redirect you to the Windows Troubleshooting menu where you can access tools that’ll diagnose and fix network issues, connectivity-related problems, etc.

What Is The Use Of The Address Element Type In Html?

HTML element is a section of an HTML document that tells the browser how to represent the information of that section. It contains necessary information like instructions, idea of the webpage and main content.

HTML element mainly consists of three parts −

Opening tag − An opening tag is an HTML element that begins a section of content. Opening tags tell browsers to start interpreting the content as part of a specific type of element, such as a heading or paragraph.

Closing tag − It marks the closing of the HTML element and tells the browser where it has to stop looking for content.

Content − This part contains the main information of the webpage and it lies between the opening and closing tag. Only this part of the HTML element will be visible to the user on the webpage.

Address Element

Address element in HTML is used to describe the contact information of the author or the owner of the HTML document. It contains the contact information like address, email address, phone number and social media handle etc.

It usually get placed at the top or bottom of the webpage. The content that we write in the address tag usually shows in the form of italic font in the browser, and by default web browser will add a line break before and after the address element.

An address element will do its job only if it is placed inside footer element. Earlier, we cannot use address element to show arbitrary address on our webpage but with the latest version we can now use it for arbitrary address also.

Also address element is flow content means we cannot have nested address element in HTML. At the same time address element does not allow the use of any other HTML element like article, aside, nav, heading inside it.

Whenever we specify the content in the address tag, it gets styled differently, that is somewhat similar to an italicized text. Then the question arise as why don’t we just use an italic formatting for addresses, if all it does is changing the style to italic. The answer to that is SEO.

What is SEO ?

SEO is an abbreviation for Search engine optimization. It helps in improving the website so that, whenever people search for that product or similar products, it ranks higher in the numerous results that will be displayed on the browser. This will reach the actual target audience, who will be able to see the website. It also helps in maintaining the traffic and natural search results.

Every tag in html has some form of meaning associated with it. For example, h1 tag specifies that it is a major heading and all the content within that is related to that topic. Other html tags which has special meaning are described below −

Article tag − that isolates the content from the rest of article

Section − separates group of content from other content on website

Aside − separates the content within it from the main content

Header − separates the top of the web page

Footer − can separate the bottom of the web page

Nav − it basically contains the navigation menu for the web page

Similarly an italicized formatting has completely different semantic meaning from the address tag. The address tag specifies the browser and the search engine that the content within that tag is some form of address through which we can reach out to the author or the person the article is related to.

But the italic text only mean that the author wants to emphasize that word, or group of words; but it need not to be an address. This is why the articles which use address tag are better optimized in SEO and rank higher in comparison with using italic or em tag to define address.

Following is the example of displaying address using address element –

To conclude, The ADDRESS element type in HTML is a useful for providing contact information and other related details, such as physical addresses. It can also be used to provide helpful context around the content of a web page or section. With its semantic meaning and various styling possibilities, it is an essential element for any website that requires contact information or contextual support.

How To Use Chatgpt: A Step

If you’re interested in this chatbot AI but don’t know where to start, I got you covered. Read on to learn how to use ChatGPT in this easy-to-understand and concise tutorial.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next iteration of digital technology. Various hardware and software developers already gained tremendous success in developing and training AI software or robots that can aid human beings at work, home, or school.

However, a conversational AI that’ll talk to you, fetch content for you, code for you, and so on has long been beyond our reach. With the unveiling of ChatGPT by OpenAI on November 30, 2023, that gap closed. Now, we can get knowledge on almost anything from ChatGPT by simply typing questions.

If you’re new to this or facing challenges in using ChatGPT, this step-by-step tutorial will help you out. Read until the end to learn how to use ChatGPT.

What Is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an AI program that can talk to anyone on the internet via text in a conversational mode. It’s a fusion of AI and machine learning (ML) technology and one of the leading models for Generative Pre-training Transformer or GPT. Meaning, the tool can create descriptive texts based on questions, keywords, etc.

The AI and ML company OpenAI developed this tool using various ML models. One of the major ML model that the developer use is the Reinforcement Learning model. The AI and ML tool utilizes trial and error, rewards, and human feedback to learn. Slowly, it develops a database of learning models. The production-ready ChatGPT tool searches through such learning models to answer your questions.

How to Use ChatGPT

Currently, the ChatGPT AI chatbot is free for public use. You can follow some simple steps to learn how to command this tool to get useful answers. At the time of writing, OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT doesn’t claim any intellectual property right (IPR) of the content produced on ChatGPT.

Hence, if you’re a software coder, app developer, designer, or content creator, you can use the chatGPT web app as part of your online research.

Signing Up for a ChatGPT Account

Before you can use this extraordinary AI knowledge base, you must sign up for a free account. Here’s how it’s done:

Go to the Welcome to ChatGPT portal.

You can use Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 work accounts to create a new account. Alternatively, you can use any email and personal Google/Microsoft accounts.

Choose the Google account you want to link to ChatGPT for account creation purposes.

Now, you must see the Tell us about you screen.

Here, you must enter your full name and verify the sign-up with a valid mobile phone number.

OpenAI will send an OTP to the provided mobile number for verification.

You can’t link more than one ChatGPT account to a mobile phone number.

Thanks to OpenAI, you can use WhatsApp messaging to get an OTP.

Once you verify, you come to the ChatGPT home screen.

Navigating in the ChatGPT App

Once you log in to the ChatGPT cloud app, you see the home screen. The home screen has two sections. The toolbar at the left side panel and the chat screen. The left-side toolbar houses the following elements:

Reset Thread

Chat History

Dark Mode or Light Mode

OpenAI Discord channel link

Updates & FAQs

Log out

The chat input box is at the bottom the of home screen. There, you can type your question. Alternatively, you can choose a sample question from the Examples column on the home screen.

A great feature of this conversational AI tool is that it can remember conversations with the users. For example, you initiated a chat with the tool about the impact of global warming a few days ago. You can open the thread from Chat or the conversation history page on the sidebar.

Using ChatGPT to Get Answers

To get useful answers from the ChatGPT AI, you should possess some knowledge of the niche or topic of the questions you’re asking. As of now, ChatGPT developers claim that the AI tool may not provide 100% accurate responses to all the questions that you ask. However, its answers are pretty accurate sometimes. Here’s how you can check out the ChatGPT AI program:

In the chat box, type a question and hit Enter.

The chat screen will maximize and the tool will start typing answers from the top of the screen.

ChatGPT uses a different approach to answer questions each time you ask a similar or the same question. Because it fetches answers from a learning model database which consists of different models for the same topic.

Once you get a satisfactory answer, you can copy and paste the content into Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or any other word-processing app.

ChatGPT is highly experienced in generating content for personal or professional website publishing purposes. Thus, if you own a casual blog where you occasionally post your thoughts about some niche topic, ChatGPT can be of great help.

You can utilize this AI app to produce content for your blog or website. Don’t forget to run the content through a plagiarism checker. Because ChatGPT can generate similar content against the same question asked by two different users.

Thus, the website stays at its capacity most of the time. Also, recently OpenAI started blocking some Asian countries from its ChatGPT server. Furthermore, a walled garden or workplace internet may block you from accessing the tool. If you’re facing any of the above issues while trying to access the ChatGPT server, here’s what you must do:

Set up any VPN from this best cheapest VPN Services list.

Activate VPN on your Chrome or Firefox browser. Some VPNs may provide a desktop app to activate a virtual private network.

Now, try to log in to ChatGPT from a VPN server located in the USA, UK, Singapore, Australia, Canada, etc.

It’s $20+ taxes per month

You must make payments using the US credit card

Currently, OpenAI is only accepting ChatGPT Plus subscription requests from the USA customers

The subscription gives you preferred access to the web app

You’ll get a personalized and encrypted URL to access the ChatGPT web app even when the tool is at its full capacity

Fill up this form to add yourself to the ChatGPT Plus waitlist

Precautions to Follow When Using ChatGPT

ChatGPT is still in its nascent stages of development. Hence, the developers constantly monitor its performance and conversations. Thus, you must not enter any personally identifiable information into the chat box. For example, don’t enter passwords, user accounts, credit card information, SSN, etc.

Furthermore, you shouldn’t discuss any confidential information with ChatGPT. If you got any business or development ideas and want the tool to validate your thoughts, don’t bother! It may not provide any satisfactory answer. Instead, you’ll expose your creative idea to someone else who may be monitoring the conversations between you and ChatGPT.

Limitations of ChatGPT

ChatGPT is completely a self-sufficient AI and ML model for text-to-text content generation. It looks up the answer in its own learning model and knowledge base. It can’t do the followings:

Search the internet for content or answers

Provide references to concepts or theories

Calculate complex mathematics

Verify facts

Translate languages

Also, its machine-learning model is limited to 2023. Thus, it may not be able to provide answers to questions that are beyond its database of information up to 2023. Thus, you must always verify its content before using it for personal or professional purposes.

How to Use ChatGPT: Final Words

So far, you learned the steps to use ChatGPT and navigate around the web app. You also learned how to use ChatGPT when it’s unavailable in your region. Furthermore, you found out how to put its content to good use after performing some quick facto checks.

Final Words

This has been a problem with Google offering plugin and then removing without maintenance. Earlier, Google discontinued AdSense plugin including the iOS / Android mobile apps. As such there are no official plugins for PageSpeed, Search Console and Analytics. At times we are hoping Google to manage this Site Kit plugin properly, it was hit with security hacking issue. In our opinion, if you are looking for integrating Search Console and Analytics, check other simple plugins. You can always use the official websites to get reports and check gathered data.
