          How To Bulk Delete All Your Facebook Posts

          If you’ve had Facebook for a while, then you’ve probably built up a large archive of posts. What was considered “cool” to post in the past may now seem inappropriate. It isn’t just our friends and family that may look through these older posts. Employers actively look at social media profiles before they hire.

          While you should certainly boost your Facebook privacy settings to prevent this, you may want to consider a more drastic approach. One way to protect yourself is to bulk delete all Facebook posts on your profile, removing them from view permanently. If you want to delete all of your Facebook posts, here’s what you’ll need to do.

          How to Bulk Delete All Facebook Posts on PC or Mac

          One of the easiest ways to go through and delete all of the Facebook posts on your profile is to use the website interface on a PC or Mac. The Facebook website allows you to review and clear out your older Facebook posts, where you can either archive your posts to hide them from view or delete them entirely.

          If you’re worried about deleting your posts, don’t worry—Facebook uses a recycle bin system to give you an opportunity to change your mind. Posts placed in the Facebook recycle bin can be restored within 30 days. If you want to speed up their removal, however, you can delete Facebook posts immediately.

          In the Activity log menu, select the Manage activity option on the left.

          In the Manage Activity menu, make sure that the Your posts option is selected on the left. You can review each post manually and select the checkbox next to each post to select it for removal or, alternatively, select the All box to select all of your profile posts. 

          Once you’ve reviewed and selected the posts, you can choose to archive the posts or delete them. Archiving them will hide the posts so that only you can view them in the future, but they’ll remain on Facebook. Select Archive to do this, or press Recycle bin to prepare the posts for removal.

          If you archive the posts, select Archive in the left-hand menu to review them later. If you selected Delete, however, select Recycle bin from the menu list to remove them permanently. Select the posts you wish to delete, or select All to select them all, then select Delete to remove them permanently. 

          Once removed, Facebook posts can’t be retrieved—they’re gone forever. If you move posts to the Facebook recycle bin, but don’t delete them manually afterwards, you’ll still have 30 days to restore them or move them to your archive before Facebook deletes them automatically.

          How to Delete All Facebook Posts Using Your Mobile Device

          On your profile page, select the three-dots menu icon underneath your name. 

          In the Profile settings menu, select the Activity log option.

          Under the Your posts section of the Activity log menu, select the Manage Your Posts button.

          Like the Facebook website, you can select individual posts to delete or archive by selecting the checkbox next to each post. If you’d rather delete all of the posts, however, tap to select the All checkbox. Select either Archive or Recycle bin at the bottom to archive or prepare the posts for deletion.

          If you choose to delete the posts, you’ll need to confirm that you want to move them to the recycle bin, where they’ll remain for 30 days before being deleted. Select the Move to Recycle Bin option to confirm your choice.

          Return to the Activity log menu to review your choices. If you want to review posts you’ve archived, tap the Archive option. Otherwise, tap Recycle bin to review posts that you’ve moved for deletion.

          In the Recycle bin menu, you can review posts that you’ve scheduled for deletion. To delete them immediately, however, select the individual posts or select the All checkbox to select them all. Select Restore to restore them, Archive to move them to your archive, or Delete to delete them permanently.

          If you choose to delete your Facebook posts from the Facebook recycle bin, they can’t be retrieved and they’re lost forever. The same applies to any posts that remain in the recycle bin for 30 days or longer, as these posts will be removed at that point.

          If you want to keep any of the posts, use the Archive function instead. This restores the posts, but hides them from view. Only you can review posts that you’ve archived, ensuring that any embarrassing posts you’ve made in the past are hidden from friends, family, and potential employers.

          If you’ve deleted all of your Facebook posts, you’ve taken one step closer to removing the influence of the controversial social media network from your life. You can also consider downloading and deleting your data from Facebook to ensure you have a full archive of the information the company has collected in the past.

          Facebook Lets Businesses Show Temporary Service Changes On Their Facebook Pages

          Businesses making temporary changes to their usual services can now prominently display those changes on their Facebook page.

          If a customer visits the Facebook page of their favorite restaurant, for example, they can quickly see if it’s still offering delivery and/or pickup service.

          If a business is simply closed for the time being, with no services being offered, that can be indicated as well.

          This capability is being added in response businesses being forced to close due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

          In an announcement, the company states:

          “To help businesses respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, we’re enabling businesses to announce temporary service changes on their Facebook Page and in searches on Facebook.

          Businesses that have changed how they operate, like fitness studios offering virtual classes or restaurants offering delivery instead of dine-in service, can easily indicate those changes to customers.”

          Here’s how to add temporary service changes to your Facebook page.

          Updating Temporary Service Changes

          From there, either indicate that the business is temporarily closed or choose from a selection of other options.

          If applicable, businesses can indicate they’re “Open with Service Changes” such as:

          The “other changes” option should be used to indicate things such as special hours for the elderly, access to gift card purchases, or anything else that has changed in response to COVID-19.

          This information will also be used to curate a list of local resources on Facebook.

          Facebook has been updating its platform on a near-daily basis in response to the rapidly changing nature of the COVID-19 outbreak.

          Now, Facebook is shining a spotlight on gift cards with improved discovery features.

          Customers can discover the gift cards right on Facebook and purchase them immediately.

          First, businesses have to set up gift card purchasing with either Square or Kabbage and follow the provided instructions.

          Once set up, businesses can share links to their digital gift card purchase page in posts, stories, or anywhere else they choose.

          Facebook will also highlight gift cards in other areas of its platform, so customers can discover them even if they’re not following the business.

          Did you know that Facebook Ads Manager only shows you 10% of potential audience suggestions based on your interest keyword searches?

          Let’s dive in!

          View Limited Interests on the Ad Set Level

          In Facebook Ads Manager, you can search for audiences that you want to target based on their interests. At the ad set level, you would do this under Detailed Targeting.

          You can type in any keyword that you think may relate to the interests of your targeted audience.

          For example, we can search for fitness and get some recommendations auto-filled for me—but the list is still pretty short. There are only 25 suggestions, which is really not a lot.

          Obviously, there are way more Facebook interests that we’d like to target, but they don’t show up in the native user interface that Facebook offers when you’re creating your ad.

          Clearly, Facebook knows that these exist and has them in its platform, but it doesn’t show them to you because of the limited interface. However, you can still access these “hidden interests” by using the Facebook API.

          I’m going to show you exactly how you can access all the different interests related to your keyword that are hidden in the Facebook platform using its API.

          Build a FB Interest Query App with the FB API

          It’s possible that you’re not going to see any apps, which is completely normal if you’ve never been here before.

          You have a few options for selecting your app type. Because we’re using Ads Manager, the Business app type makes sense here for me.

          And with that, you’ve just created an app on Facebook!

          Find More Interests with the FB Graph API Explorer

          Next, we’ll use our app in the Facebook Graph API Explorer to find interests—way more than we could get through the Ad Set level in Facebook Ads Manager.

          To do this, go to Tools → Graph API Explorer in the Facebook App Dashboard.

          The Graph API Explorer can exchange information (both send and receive) with the Facebook platform.

          You can learn more details about how it works on the Facebook Developers Graph API guide, but the important thing to know is that this interface is your portal to all of the interests data that you could want.

          After a quick security check, you should get back a long code called an Access Token. This code is how we’ll access data through our app.

          In the Facebook Graph API Explorer, you can make any of three different requests: Get, Post, or Delete.

          We’ll only be making a Get request because we’re retrieving data from the Facebook API (and not giving it anything).

          If you have access to a Business Manager account, Ads account, or a Facebook page, you can retrieve this data using the API.

          For this example, let’s retrieve all interests that could be tied to the keyword “fitness.” In the query field, copy and paste the following code:


          With this code, we’re telling the API that the interest is “fitness,” and we’re giving it an absurdly high return limit just to make sure that we get every available result. 

          Then on the right, we’ll see all the different interests that could be tied with the keyword “fitness.” Tons more than the 25 results in the Ads Manager interface!

          Pull Interest Data from the FB API

          The next step is to extract all this data from the Facebook Graph API Explorer so that it can be viewed independently in your browser just as JavaScript.

          To do this, you’ll need two things. 

          The first is the exact subdomain that Facebook provides to developers to pull information from the API, and the second is a new version of your app Access Token that you can use for an extended period of time. 

          So in this example, we’d start with the following (excluding the token, which we’ll grab in a moment):

          But wait! Before you hit Enter, remember that you still need to add your token. It’s something that you always need to include when you’re making a Get request.

          We shouldn’t add the token we used earlier because it’s a short token. This means that it will expire soon, which would restrict our use of the tool in the future.

          In your browser, paste the extended access token at the end of the URL you copied earlier and hit Enter. This should pull up all the information you saw in the Graph API Explorer, but now you can get it as JavaScript in this tab. 

          Now, here’s where the magic happens—what you need to do is copy this exact Google Sheet here. 

          Why this Sheet instead of just writing up your own? Because we’ve added an extra Google Apps Script function to this sheet that lets you import JSON data.

          In other words, this Sheet will grab and organize all the Facebook interests data that you pulled into your browser from the Graph API Explorer.

          The script has a bunch of instructions and helpful info, but you’ll find that special function we added in lines 67 and 68. This is the code that will let you import JSON data directly into this Google Sheet.

          Since our Facebook interests data is just JavaScript on a web page, it’s easy to import as a JSON file.

          On your own copy of the Google Sheet, navigate to the sheet called Creds. In cell A1, you’ll find an equals sign followed by the search query URL with one key difference—we’ve added a variable in the middle that references a cell on Sheet1. You’ll see why this is important in a moment.

          For now, just copy and paste your extended access token after &access_token= and before the final quotation mark.

          For example, let’s try the keyword food. (Note that you may need to give the sheet a few seconds, especially if there is a lot of data!)

          Now we’re accessing the Facebook API with a different keyword.

          Let’s see the suggestions for the keyword sport.

          Here are the results again.

          You can replicate this process with any keyword or even strings of multiple keywords separated by a space.

          To use this tool to its fullest potential, it helps to have a brief understanding of how it works.

          The Creds sheet has a dynamic function (thanks to the equals sign) that returns data from the URL inside the quotes.

          What we’ve added in the URL is something that is a little bit special.

          In the middle of the function, we’ve replaced the keyword to query with the variable Sheet1!D2. This variable pulls whatever text is in cell D2 on Sheet1 and uses it as the keyword to query the Facebook API.

          Whenever you change the value or keyword in cell D2 of Sheet1, it automatically updates the URL function on the Creds sheet to include that new keyword.

          The new URL, which appears in Creds cell A1, comes with a new batch of data. This data is populated on Sheet1 by the function in Sheet1 cell B2, which is =Creds!A1.

          Remember the Google Apps Script we mentioned earlier? That script added a new function to our sheet called =ImportJSON. This function imports the JSON data from any URL called by the function.

          Sheet1 cell B4 uses that function to call the URL with all our Facebook interests data for the selected keyword.

          That’s how we’re able to grab tons of raw data from the Facebook API and import it into Google Sheets, where the data is easier to read and analyze.

          To access hidden interests, you need to create a Facebook app through the Facebook Developer platform. Once you have an app, you can use the Facebook Graph API Explorer to retrieve a comprehensive list of interests related to a keyword.

          How do I extract interest data from the Facebook Graph API Explorer?

          You need to use the Facebook Graph API Explorer to generate an Access Token for your app. Then, you can make a Get request using the API and retrieve the interest data. To extract the data, you’ll need to follow the instructions mentioned in the blog post.

          Why are there only limited suggestions visible in Facebook Ads Manager?

          Facebook Ads Manager only shows a small percentage (around 10%) of potential audience interest suggestions based on your keyword searches. It’s a limited interface that doesn’t display all the available interests.

          How To Use Curl For Command Line Data Transfer And More

          If you’ve been following terminal-focused installation instructions for Linux applications for a while, you’ve probably come across the curl command at some point or another. cURL is a command-line tool for transferring data with URLs. One of the simplest uses is to download a file via the command line. This is deceptive, however, as cURL is an incredibly powerful tool that can do much more.

          What Is cURL?

          Originally written by Daniel Sternberg in 1996 to grab financial data from web servers and broadcast it to IRC channels, cURL has evolved to become a powerful tool for getting data without having to use a browser. If you’re always using the terminal, this will be one of the more important tools in your arsenal.

          In most Linux distributions, cURL is preinstalled in the system, and you can use it straight away. Even if it is not installed, it is also found in most repositories, so you can easily install it using the Software Center.

          For Windows, it does not have a “curl-like” command, and macOS has cURL preinstalled but doesn’t offer quite as many flags as the Linux version.


          Before we proceed any further, we have to make sure that cURL is already installed on our system.


          In Debian/Ubuntu-based distros, use the following command to install cURL:





          In Arch-based distros:





          In Fedora/CentOS/RHEL:




          curl macOS

          For macOS, it is already preinstalled, so you don’t need to do anything.


          For Windows 7/10/11, head over to the cURL download page and choose from either the 64-bit or 32-bit packages, according to the architecture you’re running. If you don’t know your architecture, 64-bit is a safe bet, as the vast majority of hardware made after 2006 is on it.

          Create a folder either directly on the system drive or in “C:Program Files” and call it “cURL.”

          Go back to the zip file you downloaded, open it, and find “curl.exe” inside the “bin” folder. Copy that to the cURL folder you created. The EXE you copied is completely self-contained and capable of running every permutation you can run on Linux.

          To make this command actually useful, we have to add it to the PATH variable in Windows so that it can run from the command prompt anywhere.

          Every flag in cURL that’s usable in Linux should work in the Windows version.

          Word to the wise: remember that the command prompt should never be confused with Windows Terminal. Windows Terminal comes with its own version of cURL included in the PowerShell that serves similar functionality but works entirely differently.

          Using cURL

          To show a real-world example, I interrupted a download of Debian’s testing release ISO on purpose by pressing Ctrl and C in the middle of grabbing it.

          Because cURL doesn’t have the most intuitive way to download multiple files, there are two methods, each one with its own compromise.

          If the files you’re downloading are enumerated (e.g., file1, file2, and so on), you can use brackets to get the full range of files and “#” within the output you specify with the -o flag. To make this a bit less confusing, here’s an example:

          Download files that require authentication (for example, when grabbing from a private FTP server) with the -u flag. Every authentication request must be done with the username first and the password second, with a colon separating the two. Here’s an example to make things simple:

          Splitting and Merging Files

          If for any reason you wish to download a large file and split it into chunks, you can do so with cURL’s --range flag. With --range, you must specify the byte you want to start at up to the one you want to finish at. If you do not specify an end to the range, it will just download the rest of the file.

          In the command below, cURL will download the first 100 MB of Arch Linux’s installation image:

          In short, Wget is the “everyman’s toolbox” for grabbing stuff from the Internet, while cURL expands on this with more granulated control for power users and system administrators.

          If you got an error that says something like “peer’s certificate issuer has been marked as not trusted,” the easiest way to fix this is by reinstalling the common certificates package in your distro.

          Yes! Start Tor Browser (or a standalone tor service) and use the --proxy flag. Tor gives you a local proxy you can use to mask your IP in other applications. Here’s an example of cURL used with Tor:
