Gaining the root access unlocks the door for some serious customization. You get to totally own the devices as you become the superuser of the system when you root the device, which is why many of us just have to root our Android device.

Xiaomi has released the MI A2 after the spectacular success of the Mi A1 from last year. Needless to say, those who prefer a simple and pure stock OS over the company’s MIUI OS are preferring the Mi A2 over other other Android devices from Xiaomi and other popular OEMs.

Anyway, we think whatever be the reason behind your decision to buy the Mi A2, you may want to root the device for a number of reasons. You will need to unlock the bootloader of your Mi A2 first for this, followed by installation of TWRP recovery, which facilitates installing root.
So, without further ado, here’s how you can root the Xiaomi Mi A2.

Download the TWRP recovery file for your variant of the Xiaomi Mi A2 from below.

Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 SE Root
Here’s an easy step-by-step guide to help you install TWRP recovery on your Xiaomi Mi A2. You can use the TWRP recovery to easily gain root access on the device.
Before you try the guide below, let us tell us what the guide does in short. You can follow the instruction set in the detailed guide below to do all of this.
First, we find the non-active partition and install TWRP in that partition.
Then we convert the non-active partition to active and reboot to recovery mode to access TWRP.
Next, we installed either of root or DM verity disabler file.
Now that our job with TWRP is done, we set the originally active partition back as active, and reboot to Android.
With the above in your knowledge, let’s see the detailed guide below to install TWRP and then root the Mi A2.
Make sure that you’ve unlocked the bootloader for the Mi A2 before proceeding.
Download the required files:
TWRP file from above
Root file (Magisk 16.7): Magisk 16.7.zip
DM verity disabler: no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
Connect your Mi A2 to the PC using the USB cable it came with.
Transfer all the downloaded file (TWRP, Magisk, and DM verity disabler) to your device. Do keep a copy of TWRP IMG file on your PC too. Keep the Mi A2 connected to PC.
Make sure you have enabled USB Debugging on your Mi A2, as explained in the bootloader unlock post above (step 1). You may need to re-do it after unlocking the bootloader.
Boot your Mi A2 into bootloader/fastboot mode. For this run this command: adb reboot bootloader
Find the active boot slot of your device (may differ per user). The Mi A2 uses A/B partitioning system, meaning either of A and B partition is active. You have to install the TWRP on the non-active partition, so here’s what to do. Run the command below to find active partition: fastboot getvar current-slot
Not down the active partition. For the purpose of this guide, let’s assume it is A partition that is active. Which means B is the non-active partition, and we need to install TWRP on the B partition. (If the active partition on your device is B, then you need to install TWRP on A partition.)
Install TWRP recovery on the B partition of your device by running the command below. To run a command, simply type this in the command window and then hit the enter key.
Tip: The command ends with the filename of the TWRP file, so change the filename in the command as required.
Now set the non-active partition (B, in our case) as the active partition by running the command below. (If your active partition was B, then make A active partition now.) fastboot set_active b
Careful! Hold the volume up button now, and
the Volume up button, run the command below to reboot into recovery mode to access TWRP first before starting to Android.fastboot reboot
Enter the password or PIN you are using to let system decrypt in recovery mode and get to TWRP recovery. (It won’t ask if you are not using any PIN or password on the device.)
You will see TWRP recovery now. When asked to ‘Keep System Read only?’, tap on the ‘Keep Read Only’ button to not allow for system modifications.
In case you don’t want to root the device, be sure to install the DM verity disabler file now (in place of Magisk file) to get the Mi A2 to boot normally (prevent from bootlooping).
Reboot now and your Mi A2 will start to Android and will be rooted too. You can verify root access on your Mi A2 using a root checker app.

While Galaxy S6 5.1.1 root has been out for a while now, the T-Mobile Galaxy S5 users were left behind as regards their own Android 5.1.1 root, for build G900TUVU1FOF6. Not anymore, using the basic work done by 5.1.1 root chief g.lewarne over S6 5.1.1 builds, user over at XDA brought the trick to S5 5.1.1 build, and with great help from some solid and tons of Trap music, he did it — he achieved the root on T-Mobile Galaxy S5!
That’s some real good news, but it comes with a little nagging issue of warranty getting broken. Well, this method uses custom recovery, and breaks KNOX flag, meaning warranty of your T-Mobile S5 will be lost if you root your device.
Remember that Trap music that ShinySide listened a lot of while working S5 5.1.1 root, well, the resulting end product, a custom kernel packaging the root access, has been slightly appropriately named after that only, as, meet one and only — TrapKernel!
All you need to do achieve root access son your T-Mobile S5 is flash the TrapKernel using TWRP/CWM recovery. But if you don’t want to lose warranty, better wait this one out. While there are no hopes as to how and when KNOX-free root solution will be available, it’s upon you to think and decide whether you want root right now or not.
TrapKernel, based on your build no.
T-MOBILE GALAXY S5, model no. SM-G900T
Don’t try on any other Galaxy S5 set than model no. G900T!
Don’t try on any other device whatsoever!

Download the Odin software, TWRP recovery and TrapKernel file from above. Be sure to download the trap kernel based on your current build no., otherwise, camera may stop working for you.
Connect Galaxy S5 to PC and transfer the TrapKernel file to the device. It’s very important step, don’t miss it. Make sure you have the TrapKernel on your S5 before proceeding further. (Keep TWRP recovery and Odin on your PC, don’t transfer them.)
Extract the Odin file. You should get this file, Odin3 chúng tôi (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).

Boot Galaxy S5 into download mode:
Power off your T-Mobile S5. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.

You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do steps 6 to 12 again. For this, close Odin, disconnect your S5, remove battery, insert it back after 5-6 seconds and then start from step 6 again.
Reboot your S5 into recovery mode. Do this:
Power off your S5. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Power + Home + Volume up together until you see Samsung’s logo. Then let go of the buttons. You will soon enter TWRP recovery.
[Optional] Create a backup. Tap on backup, and then select partitions of your choice, preferably all of them, and then do the Swipe action at bottom to start backing up the whole phone! It would always come very handy in case anything bad happens to phone. Go back to TWRP’s main screen by tapping on Home button at bottom left corner.
Now, the Android 5.1 Root. On main screen of TWRP, tap on Install, and then browse and select the Trapkernel file (G900T_FOF6_5.1.1_Rooted_TrapKernel.zip). On next screen, just do the Swipe action at the bottom to root Galaxy S5 on 5.1 build.
Tap on System Reboot button after that to restart the phone, which will be now rooted on 5.1.1 OF6 update.

Don’t try this one any other device!
Important: Check your device’s model no. on free Android app called Droid Info. If you see the model no. and codename mentioned above in the app, then use this recovery, otherwise not. BTW, you can check model no. device’s packaging box too.

Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files.
Step 1. Unlock bootloader of your Moto X Pure using the Motorola’s own site here. Without unlock bootloader of your Moto X Pure, you cannot install TWRP, and cannot root it either.
Step 2. Install ADB drivers.
Step 3. Install Moto X Pure driver. (Common for all Motorola Android devices.)
Step 4. On your Moto X Pure, enable USB debugging. For this:
Go back to Settings, then choose ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘USB debugging’ option and use its toggle button to enable it. Accept warning by tapping on OK button.
Step 6. Download the Moto X Pure TWRP recovery from above. And also the SuperSU file that will be used to Root the device. Transfer the SuperSU file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip) to PC.
Step 7. Rename the recovery file, from chúng tôi to a simple one, chúng tôi
Step 8. Now, open command window in the folder where you have the chúng tôi file. For this:
You will see a command window open up, with location directed to folder where you have the twrp recovery file.
Step 9. Boot your Moto X Pure into Bootloader/Fastboot mode:

Press and hold Power and Volume down together for 3 seconds and then let go. You’ll enter bootloader mode. And should see FASTBOOT written at top. It’s already in Fastboot mode by default.
Step 10. Test whether fastboot is working alright. For this, run the command given below. (You can also copy paste the command and then use enter key to run it.)fastboot devices
→ Upon running command above, you should get a serial no. with fastboot written after it. If you don’t get fastboot written on cmd window, then it means you need to reinstall adb and fastboot drivers, or change restart PC, or use original USB cable.
Step 11. Flash Moto X Pure TWRP recovery now. Use the following command for that.fastboot flash recovery motoxp-twrp.img
Step 12. TWRP recovery will now be installed on your Moto X Pure. It will be done pretty quickly, like 1-2 seconds.
Proceed further only if you want to root your Moto X Pure. For that, reboot into recovery mode. For this, while still in bootloader mode, select the Recovery option using Volume down button and then select it using Power button.
Step 13. [Optional] You will see TWRP recovery, v188.8.131.52. Now, you must take a full backup of your phone, including system partition. In TWRP, tap on Backup, and then select all partitions. Then do the swipe action at bottom to start the backup process.
Step 14. To Root, tap on Install button, and then browse and select the SuperSU file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip). Then on next screen, do the Swipe action at bottom to flash the root package.
Step 15. Tap on Reboot System to restart the device. That’s it.
With a tougher band addressing our issues with the original, and a new heart-rate sensor bringing it into line with rival activity trackers, you quite simply won’t find a better-value fitness band than the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse. It still falls down on social interaction, apps and its use of a proprietary charging cable, but given the price we can accept these shortcomings.

When we reviewed the original Xiaomi Mi Band we gave the following verdict: “At £28.99 the Xiaomi Mi Band is an excellent-value, lightweight fitness band with outstanding battery life. There are two key changes for the new Mi Band Pulse, with the addition of an optical heart-rate scanner that can be used on-demand, while running or to better monitor your sleep patterns, and an improved polycarbonate band. Xiaomi has achieved this and added only 0.5g to the overall weight, meaning the Mi Band Pulse is an extraordinarily light 14.5g. Plus there are new options to share achievements on Twitter, and the ability to turn on daily notifications for sleep and activity performance.
Several months after we reviewed the original Mi Band the soft-touch silicone band that held the tracker to our arm failed. At first we found the tracker had started to become loose in its band, and on several occasions it slipped out and we were lucky not to have lost it. Eventually the band tore and we needed to buy a replacement (you may choose to do so anyway, swapping the standard black band for a more colourful option).
The fact that the new Mi Band Pulse’s band is tougher is instantly obvious – whereas the original began to show signs of wear and tear within the first few days of use the 1S does not. And we found it rather difficult to insert the tracker the first time we tried, which should mean you’re far less likely to lose it. See all wearable tech reviews.
The good news is the Mi Band Pulse has the same class-leading up to 30-day battery life, although it will prove a little quicker to run down if you make great use of the heart-rate sensor.
When it is time to recharge the Mi Band the cable has also been improved. Unfortunately it is still a proprietary USB cable, so be sure not to lose it, but it now adopts a flat design with a smaller charging dock that should make it easier to fold up and tuck away until it’s required.
As before the band is waterproof rated IP67, so you don’t have to take it off when you jump in the shower. And it still features the same ability to provide a gentle vibration alarm, notify you of incoming calls and app notifications, and a phone-unlock feature that now extends to all Android 5.0+ phones rather than being restricted to Xiaomi handsets when the app is running in the background.
That said, we found it impossible to set this up with our Samsung Galaxy S6 – the phone reported that the Mi Band Pulse could keep the phone unlocked only once it had been unlocked by us, but as soon as the screen timed out the S6 requested our password, despite the Mi Band Pulse being added as a Trusted Smart Wake device.Xiaomi Mi Band Pulse review: How to set up the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse
We had a few headaches in setting up the Mi Band Pulse, and we aren’t entirely sure whether it’s because we are UK-based or because we had the original Mi Band paired to our Mi Fit account.
As we noted with the original, the instructions that come with the Mi Band Pulse are written in Chinese and therefore difficult for the majority of UK users to follow.
The first thing to do is download the Mi Fit app from the Google Play store (or App Store, since the Mi Band is also compatible with iPhones running iOS 7.0 or later). You can then pair the Mi Band Pulse to the app over Bluetooth, and register for a Mi Fit account if you don’t already have one. (The Mi Band Pulse will also sync with Google Fit.)
This is where we ran into problems, though. The version of the app (1.7.521) we downloaded from Google Play was the same version we used with the original, and featured no function to measure your heart rate.
We got around this by going to Settings, Security and allowing our phone to install apps from unknown sources, then downloading and installing the Xiaomi Mi Fit 1.7.611 .apk file from APKMirror.

Once we’d got the correct version of the app on our device using the Mi Band was simple. It will automatically connect and sync data as soon as you open the app, and the rest of the time goes about recording your activity without draining your phone’s battery (you don’t need to leave the Bluetooth switched on).Xiaomi Mi Band Pulse review: Mi Fit software
As with the original Mi Band, the Mi Fit app will work with the Mi Band Pulse to do its thing with zero interaction from you. On launching the app you’ll still see the daily step counter (with number of calories burned), and can access daily data on a bar chart from the past month. These are plotted against your daily target, which can be set as high or low as you like.
A swipe to the left brings up the sleep data, and you should find it’s now more easily able to distinguish between light- and heavy sleep cycles thanks to the heart-rate sensor (if you want to extend battery life further you can turn off the ‘Sleep assistant’ in Mi Fit’s settings, which periodically measures your heart rate during the night.
New to the app is a section to monitor your weight and BMI, which will be useful if you want the Mi Band Pulse to help you monitor your activity in an effort to slim down. This screen is found a swipe to the right of the main screen, but of course requires you to manually input this information (the fitness band isn’t that clever).
The ability to record your heart rate on-demand is found in the Settings menu, along with options to share achievements with your friends (merely a screenshot of your progress – the Mi Band Pulse still lacks true social integration in the way Fitbit trackers and the like do), set up a gentle vibration alarm to wake you in the morning, or set the Mi Band Pulse to alert you to incoming calls and notifications from apps of your choice.Xiaomi Mi Band Pulse: Build and design
We’ve already partially covered the Mi Band Pulse’s build and design in this review. Almost identical to the original it’s still extremely lightweight, but with a tougher hypoallergenic band with eight adjustment holes that fit any wrist from 157- to 205mm. Plus there’s the new optical heart-rate sensor, which you can see working as a pulsating green light.
The Mi Band Pulse still interacts with you using vibrations, but one thing we haven’t mentioned is the three LEDs on top of the tracker. These work in the same way as before – when lifted in a checking-the-time movement flash to show how close you are to your daily activity goal. The gesture is tricky to get the hang of, although the Mi Band will also vibrate and flash like crazy when you’ve hit your goal.

Download the file given below and save them in a separate folder on your computer (just to keep things tidy, that is).

Extract/Unzip the TWRP Recovery file, samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300-twrp-odin.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably). You’ll get the following files:
Disconnect the Galaxy S3 from PC if it is connected.
Boot your International Galaxy S3 into Download Mode: (The image below of Galaxy Note 2 would help)
Power off your phone first and wait for 6-7 seconds after display is off.
Press and hold these 3 buttons together until you see Warning! screen: Volume Down + Power + Home.
If you don’t get the Added! message, here are some
Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy S3 as said above in ‘Before you begin..’ section.
If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and reinstall back.
Connect using a different USB port on your PC.
Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.
Reboot phone and PC and then try again.
Load the recovery file (extracted in Step 1) into Odin as instructed below:
Now in the Option section of Odin, make sure that Re-Partition box is unchecked. (Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes remain checked, while all other boxes remain unchecked.)
Double check the above two steps.
If you see FAIL message instead of the RESET in Odin’s top left box, that a problem. Try this now: disconnect your Galaxy S3 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.
