1] Remove third-party font management plug-in

Before testing fonts, it is best to update or remove third-party font plug-ins. To access the third-party font plug-ins enable viewing of hidden files then do the following.

From the main window choose Program Files then Adobe then Adobe Illustrator then Plugins

Font management utility is Extensis, Suitcase, Font explorer, Font explorer Pro, RightFont, and NexusFont.

2] Clear the system font cache

Font caching allows an application to load from external memory only the letters required to show a string. This means that the whole font does not need to reside in the addressable flash or RAM, but can be stored on a larger file system.

Font cache service is a Windows service that optimizes the performance of applications by caching commonly used font data. Applications will start this service if it is not already running. It can be disabled, though doing so will degrade application performance.

To clear the system font cache do the following:

Turn on Hidden files and folders

Close all Adobe applications.

Navigate to C:WindowsServiceProfilesLocalServiceAppDataLocal.

Delete the DAT or  chúng tôi  files (~FontCache-S-1-5-18.dat).

When you open the Serviceprofiles, Localservice, Appdata, and Local folders, for the first time, they will each give a warning that You don’t currently have permission to access this folder.

Press Continue to open the folder anyway.

3] Validate all fonts to identify the damaged ones

This step requires that you test the fonts in batches or one by one. This step may be time-consuming depending on how many fonts are installed.

Type Control Panel in Windows Search and press Enter.

In the Control Panel, open the Fonts folder.

Select all the fonts, and copy and paste them into a folder on the desktop.

Delete the fonts from the Fonts folder.

Copy and paste each batch of fonts from the desktop to the Fonts folder and launch the application. If you are unable to launch the application, the damaged font exists in the Fonts folder.

Identify and remove the damaged font, and relaunch the application.

If the problem recurs after you remove a font, continue to perform these steps until all damaged fonts are removed.

How To Change Font In Windows 11

Microsoft has given you the freedom to customize Windows 11 to a certain extent. You are free to tweak the desktop appearance to vibe a different look and feel of Windows 11. But, if you are already bored of these in-built settings and what to try something new, then changing the font on your Windows 11 PC is worth trying out.

Sadly, there is no straightforward way of changing the default font on the latest iteration of Windows. However, it is possible to do so using a pretty neat workaround. Let’s get started.

What is the default font on Windows 11?

Segoe UI Variable is the default system font for Windows 11. A new variant of classic Segoe, Segoe UI Variable leverages the variable font technology to dynamically offer pronounced legibility. This even works for very small font sizes and enhances outlines for display sizes. Additionally, the all-new Segoe UI provides better readability on display devices with more pixels per inch, owing to its better scaling capabilities.

How to change the default font on Windows 11

Here’s how you can change the default font on Windows 11 using a registry hack. Let’s start by backing up your registry so that you can easily restore your settings in case something goes wrong.

Step 1. Backup your registry

Note: Make sure to select ‘All files in the drop-down menu at the bottom if ‘Text document’ is selected.

Once the registry file has been merged with your registry, restart your system. The new font should now be applied to all compatible elements in the Windows 11 UI.

Copy-paste the following registry code in the new file of Notepad

Once done, use the Ctrl + S shortcut to save the file. In the Save As window, choose Desktop as the file location. Assign a meaningful name to the file and put .reg as the file extension. You can then use the numbers at the bottom to switch between profiles on your system.

And that’s it! You will now have changed the font on your system.

Problems With The Lg V30 And How To Fix Them

The LG V30 is one of the most well rounded flagship smartphones currently available. Featuring gorgeous design and top of the line specifications and features, it offers everything we’ve come to expect from a high-end device.

Hands on with the LG V30

Where to buy the LG V30

Best LG V30 cases

That said, no phone is without its issues. We’ve rounded up some of the common problems faced by LG V30 owners, as well as some potential solutions on how to fix them!

Note: Not every LG V30 owner will face these problems. In fact, it is more than likely that you won’t come across any of these issues at all.

This is a software issue, and a permanent fix will hopefully be available via an upcoming software update. Until then, you can download and use the Lux Auto Brightness app from the Google Play Store. It’s one of the best tools around to get better control over the device’s auto brightness feature.

You also have the option to disable auto brightness and manually it to your liking. Go to Settings – Display and disable Auto brightness. You can also disable auto brightness and manually set it via the quick settings menu in the notification drop down.

Download the Greenify app from the Google Play Store. Here, you can see a list of applications that are active on waking the phone. Changing the settings for these apps should help reduce any slowdowns.

A rogue app could be the cause for any stutter, lag, or battery drain. Boot the device into Safe Mode (you can find the instructions on how to do so below) and see if the problem persists. If not, an application is the issue. You can then either delete the last few apps installed before the problem started, or perform a factory reset and start over. That’s recommended only as a worst-case scenario, since you will lose all your data.

LG packs a lot of features into the software experience. Disabling these, unless you use them of course, could provide a boost in performance.

If you plan to buy the LG V30 from a US network carrier, your device may also come with a lot of pre-installed apps. While you won’t be able to delete these apps, you can disable them. Go to the Apps section of the Settings menu, find the relevant application, and disable it there.

A lot of users have found that the Always On Display seems to be causing excessive battery drain. While this isn’t the case for everybody, those who have come across this problem should disable the AOD until a fix is available.

You can find a general guide on how to get the most out your smartphone battery here.

Problem #3 – Issues with the fingerprint scanner, face unlock, and voice unlock

Features like face unlock and the fingerprint scanner have generally been fast and accurate for most users, but some have had trouble using these to unlock their devices.

Potential solutions:

You can simply try deleting and remapping the fingerprints stored on the device, and you can even store the same fingerprint twice, which has worked for some users.

In other cases, clearing the cache has done the trick. Go to Settings – General – Phone Management – Device Storage and tap on Internal Storage. Then tap on Cached Data and clear it.

The face unlock seems to work without issue, but users have found that a picture can be used to fool it. To avoid that happening, make sure that you select “Advanced Mode.” If the face unlock doesn’t work, you can scan your face multiple times for improved accuracy.

Voice unlock has been pretty hit or miss so far. Hopefully a future software update will help improve this feature.

No app drawer – Out of the box, the LG V30 comes without an app drawer. All your apps are spread out across the home screens, and using folders is one of the ways to keep things organized. Luckily, LG does offer a simple solution to bring back the app drawer. Go to Settings – Display – Home screen – Select home and select “Home & app drawer.”

App scaling – With the V30 display featuring the odd 18:9 aspect ratio, some apps aren’t utilizing the entire screen and leave black bars at the top and bottom. With this aspect ratio becoming the norm, app developers will continue to fix this problem, but LG has a solution in place as well. Go to Settings – Display – App scaling and you can enable “Full screen (18:9)” an any app that supports it.

Problem #5 – Connectivity issues

As is the case with any new device, you may find yourself facing some connectivity issues with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi issues in particular have been found with the LG V30.

Potential solutions:

Wi-Fi issues

Turn the device and the router off for at least ten seconds. Then turn them back and retry the connection.

Go to Settings – Power saving and ensure that this option is turned off.

Use the Wi-Fi Analyzer to check how crowded your channel is, and switch to a better option.

Forget the Wi-Fi connection by going to Settings – Wi-Fi and long tapping the connection you want, then selecting “Forget”. Re-enter the details and try again.

Make sure the router firmware is up to date.

Make sure the applications and software on the device are up to date.

Go into Wi-Fi – Settings – Advanced and make a note of your device MAC address, then make sure that it is allowed access in the router’s MAC filter.

Bluetooth issues

With issues when connecting to the car, check the manufacturer’s manual for the device and the car and reset your connections.

Ensure that you are not missing a vital part of the connection process.

Go to Settings – Bluetooth and ensure nothing needs changing

Go into Settings – Bluetooth and delete all prior pairings, setting them up again from scratch.

When it comes to issues with multiple device connection, only a future update will be able to address this problem.

Problem #6 – Issues where the only option is to wait for an official software update

These are a list of problems that don’t have any workarounds or fixes currently available, but are known issues that will hopefully be addressed with upcoming software updates.

Camera issues – Some users have found the front-facing camera to be quite disappointing, with images appearing blurry, a lot of noise, and generally of a poor quality, even in good lighting conditions.

Video playback issues – Some users have faced a problem where there is only audio and no video playing, with multiple reboots (more than three) required to make it work again. This has been a problem when using the Netflix app as well as Google Play Movies.

Display/brightness uniformity issue – This seems to be an issue with only certain batches of the device, and it isn’t particularly common yet. If you do have a problem with the display, your best option is to pick up a replacement.

When the screen is not responsive, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, until the device restarts.

Hard reset

Turn the device off.

Press and hold the power button and the volume down key simultaneously, and when the LG logo is displayed, release only the power button, and then immediately press the power button again, and wait till the factory reset menu comes up.

Press the power button to continue, or the volume keys to cancel.

Booting into Safe Mode

Turn off the phone and restart it. When the LG logo appears, press and hold the volume down key until you see the home screen, which should take it into Safe Mode.

When the phone is on, press and hold the power button till the shutdown options appear. Press and hold the “Power off” option till a confirmation pops up and tap OK. This will boot the device into Safe Mode.

Hardware control mode

If the display of the phone is broken or damaged, you can still perform some basic functions using the hardware buttons.

Turn off the phone.

Press and hold the power button and both volume keys together for more than 10 seconds to enable the hardware key control mode.

Press the volume keys to scroll to the option you want, and press the power button to confirm.

To answer a call, you can now press both volume keys at the same time to do so.

To end a call, press the power button during the call.

To stop the alarm, press and hold the volume keys together when the alarm rings.

How To Change The Default Font In Google Chrome

Did you know you can change the way you read text on the Google Chrome browser? You can change the size of the font and even the style of the font itself to something more pleasing to the eye. Here are the steps to change the font appearing on Chrome webpages to suit your tastes.

Altering the Font Style

Start your Chrome browser and go to the top of the webpage, to the right of the address bar, where you will find the three dots in the top corner. Tap on the dots and a drop-down menu of options will appear.

A new page will open in a new tab. This is the settings page that controls the appearance and internal workings of the Chrome browser on your device.

Search through the list to the left of the page, where you will see the option titled Appearance. Select this option to open the page of the browser that determines the layout of Chrome web pages on your device.

Alternatively, you can copy and paste the following address in Chrome’s’ address bar to reach this page: chrome://settings/fonts

Here you will find the Customize Fonts section, which carries the following Chrome font options:

Standard: The main style of font the content of a web page will appear in on your browser.

Serif: A style of lettering where a small line or stroke is added to the end of the letter to add a degree of flair to the alphabet. Examples include Times Roman, Courier, and Palatino.

Sans-serif: Another style of lettering where the letters do not feature a stroke or small line at the end. These are used to convey simplicity and minimalism in text. Examples include Helvetica, Avant Garde, and Geneva.

Fixed width: This controls the amount of space that exists between letters, words, and sentences in a text. This is a useful option to play around with if you are having trouble with the words on a web page being too close together.

For each of these options, you can choose the type of font to your preference or change the font for only one of these options depending on your choice. Just a few popular fonts to choose from are:

Baskerville: One of the oldest styles in existence, Baskerville offers rounder and more sharply cut text characters that are elegant, symmetrical, and soothing for the eyes.

Bodoni MT: Said to be one of the most elegant fonts ever designed, Bodoni was traditionally used in glossy posters and newsletters before finding a home on the Web. The font can be difficult to read at a smaller size, which is why it is traditionally used for 9-point or higher text.

Gill Sans: A more modern font styling than the previous two entries, Gill Sans has often been described as the British Helvetica because of its enduring popularity in the UK. It is also used in posters and publicity materials and proved so influential that it helped create an entire genre of humanist sans-serif typefaces.

That is just a small sampling. There are many more to choose from! Once you have chosen the font, exit the Settings page and restart the browser.

If the internet is the new reading and learning hub for the cyber community, then choosing your own font style can be an important step toward customizing and personalizing the way in which you interact with web pages on your browser.

There is an annoying font problem for some Windows 10  users – the font is too small on their devices.

There’s a very simple fix to this problem that we’re going to talk about below.

If you have been struck by the small font problem in Windows 10 here’s what you can do to remedy this problem.

The problem might be caused by high DPI scaling in Windows, so check our previous post with similar working fixes – Chrome Looks Blurry in Windows 10: What to do.

If your issue persists, then here’s how to make the font on your screen larger or smaller, in our situation you want to make it bigger.

How do I make the font bigger in Windows 10? 1. Change font size

You can make the text (and other things like icons) larger without changing the screen resolution of your monitor or laptop screen.

That way, you can make the text easier to see and still keep your monitor or laptop set to the best possible resolution.

How to change font size on Windows 10:

Under Scale and Layout, you can change the size of text, apps , and other items

2. Change display resolution

Another way to increase font size on PC is to change the display resolution.

However, keep in mind that the default resolution of your screen already uses the best possible configuration to display Windows.

Increasing the resolution will indeed make all parts of the UI larger, but some of them will become blurry or will even disappear.

3. Press the CTRL key and use your mouse wheel

If you want to increase font size on various apps and programs or while browsing the Internet, you can simply press and hold the CRTL key on your keyboard and scroll up using your mouse wheel.

The text size on the respective apps and programs will automatically increase.

If you’re still using Windows 8.1, here’s how to change display resolution:

Open Screen Resolution by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, choose Search, enter Display in the search box, choose Settings, and then Display.

Choose Larger – 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.

Hit Apply

If you want to change the text size for specific items in Windows 8.1, here’s what you need to do

Open Screen Resolution

Under Change only the text size, choose the item you’d like to change and pick a text size.
