5 Ways To Fix ‘Resolving Host’ Issues In Google Chrome
It’s quite easy to browse the web from an average user’s perspective- just type the URL, and the webpage gets loaded in a matter of seconds. But an average user is unaware of what happens behind the scene. E
very website is made up of different files like text, images, and videos stored on web servers. Web servers are virtual computers stored in a data server having storage to store those files.
To solve this problem, the use of domain names began. DNS was built in the early days of the Internet to map domains to their respective IP addresses. So now, whenever we enter an URL in our address bar, it starts resolving that domain name to the IP address where that web page files are stored.
But sometimes, DNS may find it difficult to resolve the query, and we end up getting the ‘resolving host’ message in Chrome.
If you are facing the resolving host error on a specific website, then the chances are that it might be a server-side error, but if you are facing the error on every website you are trying to visit, then the problem is from the client-side. Talking about the possibilities on the client-side, it might be a slow Internet, slow DNS Server, antivirus software, DNS cache, and many more.
The Internet Protocol Version version 4 is mostly used worldwide and is known as IPv4. But it’s a bit outdated, launched back in 1981. On the other hand, the IPv6 launched back in 1995 is seen as the future of Internet Protocol. But in a few cases, IPv6 causes problems.
Step 1: Press Windows Logo Key and R to open Run and type control panel.
Step 2: In the Control Panel, select Network and Internet and then Network and Sharing Center. Now go to Change adapter settings. Here you can see all the active networks on your computer.
Step 5: Now restart your computer. The resolving host issue will likely get solved in Chrome.
The above fix worked for most users facing resolving host issues, but a few found that the issue returned after a day or weeks. If you have already tried it and the issue returned. Now try the next fix I am providing.
Most Windows PC users use Antivirus software. The most popular ones are Malwarebytes, Avast, etc. If you have one such antivirus, especially Malwarebytes, try disabling it. The developers of Malwarebytes have publically accepted responding to a query in their forum that there is an error between them and Chrome causing the issue. Following this fix alone has fixed issues for thousands of users.
Just type chrome://net-internals/#dns in your address bar and hit enter. You will end up reaching the below page. You can see an option to Clear the host cache. Tap on it to delete all DNS cache stored on Chrome.
Step 1: Press the Windows Logo Key and R to activate run. Type and enter the control panel.
Step 2: In the Control Panel, select Network and Internet and then Network and sharing center. On the left side, tap Change adapter settings. You can now see the active networks.
Enter 1.1.1.1 as preferred DNS Server and 1.0.0.1 in Alternate DNS server. It will change your DNS Server to Cloudflare. If you want to use Google DNS Server, enter 8.8.8.8 in the preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 in the alternate DNS server.
Step 1: Open System Preferences on your Mac and head to Network settings.
Step 2: Now head over to Advanced settings.
Step 4: You can see the default DNS servers provided by ISP.
Step 5: Tap + icon to enter a new DNS server IP. Add 8.8.8.8 first and then 8.8.4.4. It will change your DNS server to Google Public DNS.
Chrome’s resolving host issue is ubiquitous, and it occurs a lot for Windows users. It can be very annoying, but there is no need to worry. You can easily fix the problem by trying the solutions I provided above. If you want an immediate solution, do a simple reboot. Turning off IPv6 in networking adapter settings fixed the issue for many users.
Similarly, it would be best to disable Malwarebytes or similar antivirus software to cure the issues with Chrome. You can also try clearing the DNS cache on Chrome. Lastly, updating DNS Server to Google or Cloudflare is something everyone should do whether they are facing the issue or not. I hope this helps you fix the resolving host error in your Chrome browser.
How To Install And Update Google Chrome In Ubuntu
Most users who want to install Google Chrome in Ubuntu tend to use an App Store or go through Ubuntu Software. Here we show you how to install Google Chrome in Ubuntu.
Download and Install Google ChromeSince Google Chrome is not found in the Software Center, we need to download the installer from its website.
Select the package for your Linux platform. This may be the 64-bit .deb (for Debian/Ubuntu), 64-bit .rpm (for Fedora/openSUSE), or, if you don’t use either of those, you can get a community-supported version.
Note: if you are using Arch Linux, Google Chrome is found in the AUR. You can install it with any of these AUR helpers.
If this didn’t work for you, try a direct download of Google Chrome for Linux.
If prompted, enter your password.

Enjoy the Google Chrome browser on Ubuntu.
Install Chrome Using Flatpak LibraryIf you prefer a more direct method of obtaining Chrome, try using Flatpak. Open the Terminal and type the following command:
flatpakinstall
flathub com.google.ChromePress Y , then Enter.
Let the Terminal download packages and install the browser.
Chrome will be installed successfully on Linux PC.
Open the menu and search for the browser.

Note: if your Ubuntu Software center is not working, we have fixes here.
Use Command Line
Open a terminal.
Run the sudo apt update command in the Terminal.
Type sudo apt --only-upgrade install google-chrome-stable command to upgrade Google Chrome only.
Use Software Updater
Open “Software Updater” from the menu.
Select “Other Software” from the top menu.
Check the box beside the APT Line of the Google repository and close the window.
The Software Updater will notify you of new software updates when they are available for your computer.
Tip: not keen on using Ubuntu? Check out other Debian-based Linux distributions here.

Is Flatpak Google Chrome safe? While Flatpak is an open-source project, the Chrome package on the platform isn’t monitored or managed by Google. You have to install it at your own risk.
Do I need to add the Google Chrome repository separately? The Chrome DEB or RPM package has the repository info and saves it in the computer after installation. You don’t have to register the repository separately.
Do I have to update the Flatpak packages separately?Flatpak updates appear along with the system updates. You don’t have to add the Flathub repository or download additional tools to receive or update the applications. Use the universal command sudo apt update and install Flatpak app updates.

How To Change The Default Font In Google Chrome
Did you know you can change the way you read text on the Google Chrome browser? You can change the size of the font and even the style of the font itself to something more pleasing to the eye. Here are the steps to change the font appearing on Chrome webpages to suit your tastes.
Altering the Font StyleStart your Chrome browser and go to the top of the webpage, to the right of the address bar, where you will find the three dots in the top corner. Tap on the dots and a drop-down menu of options will appear.
A new page will open in a new tab. This is the settings page that controls the appearance and internal workings of the Chrome browser on your device.
Search through the list to the left of the page, where you will see the option titled Appearance. Select this option to open the page of the browser that determines the layout of Chrome web pages on your device.
Alternatively, you can copy and paste the following address in Chrome’s’ address bar to reach this page: chrome://settings/fonts
Here you will find the Customize Fonts section, which carries the following Chrome font options:
Standard: The main style of font the content of a web page will appear in on your browser.
Serif: A style of lettering where a small line or stroke is added to the end of the letter to add a degree of flair to the alphabet. Examples include Times Roman, Courier, and Palatino.
Sans-serif: Another style of lettering where the letters do not feature a stroke or small line at the end. These are used to convey simplicity and minimalism in text. Examples include Helvetica, Avant Garde, and Geneva.
Fixed width: This controls the amount of space that exists between letters, words, and sentences in a text. This is a useful option to play around with if you are having trouble with the words on a web page being too close together.
For each of these options, you can choose the type of font to your preference or change the font for only one of these options depending on your choice. Just a few popular fonts to choose from are:
Baskerville: One of the oldest styles in existence, Baskerville offers rounder and more sharply cut text characters that are elegant, symmetrical, and soothing for the eyes.
Bodoni MT: Said to be one of the most elegant fonts ever designed, Bodoni was traditionally used in glossy posters and newsletters before finding a home on the Web. The font can be difficult to read at a smaller size, which is why it is traditionally used for 9-point or higher text.
Gill Sans: A more modern font styling than the previous two entries, Gill Sans has often been described as the British Helvetica because of its enduring popularity in the UK. It is also used in posters and publicity materials and proved so influential that it helped create an entire genre of humanist sans-serif typefaces.
That is just a small sampling. There are many more to choose from! Once you have chosen the font, exit the Settings page and restart the browser.
ConclusionIf the internet is the new reading and learning hub for the cyber community, then choosing your own font style can be an important step toward customizing and personalizing the way in which you interact with web pages on your browser.
