Suggested January 2024 How To Easily Record Voice Memos On Mac

We all have ideas that come to us in the spur of the moment and then they are gone. If you want to keep them, you could write it down, but then, you either have to go through the annoyance of getting out a pen and paper to write it down, or you will have to open a new program, stop what you are doing and create a file for this one simple idea. Neither one of those options is exactly an elegant solution. As a matter of fact, they are both pretty clumsy when you compare them to the zen simplicity of being able to record an audio note whenever you want to. No fuss, no muss, just your voice and your mac.

Setting Up The Recording Capability

4. Close and re-open Automator. Choose “Open existing workflow”, then navigate to and open your file. You should see the same elements in your workflow as before.

6. When a recording window appears, begin speaking. When you are done, tap on the space bar to end and save the recording of the file. The file will be saved with the name Audio

Now that you can record whenever you want, let’s attach your memos to a keyboard shortcut. That way you can make a new memo on the fly.

Adding a Keyboard Shortcut to Record Anytime

1. Open your System Preferences, and choose the Keyboard preferences.

How To Record Voice And Video Conversations In Skype.

Learn how to use Skypes brand feature that allows you to record any and all video and voice conversations you have using the service. The feature is available on all devices that have Skype access and is one of Skypes most useful new features.

How to Check the Battery Level of Connected Bluetooth Devices on Windows 10.

Skype is one of Microsoft’s biggest investments and has seen quite a few changes over the years. It was originally a very professional business-oriented service designed to connect users around the globe using VOIP technology at a fraction of the cost of standard phone connections. Unfortunately, since it’s acquisition, Microsoft has been struggling to find a balance between Skypes professional nature and their own desire to turn it into a social app like Snapchat and Instagram.

Thankfully after unsuccessful attempts, Microsoft has finally stopped messing around with Skype and decided to take it back to its grassroots purpose, no longer heading down a Snapchat/Instagram inspired path. As part of this new direction, Skype is finally getting some more interface changes and performance improvements as well as an option to record video and voice calls.

Note: As good practice, you should always make sure you verbally notify everyone in a conversation that you are about to start a recording. It’s not only a legal requirement, it’s also a common courtesy

How Do You Record Voice or Video Conversations Using Skype? (Record Skype Conversations)

Everyone in the conversation will be notified that the conversation is being recorded and a recording icon will be shown at the top of the screen on all devices. If at any time you wish to stop recording the conversation, tap the + once again and select Stop Recording. As soon as you stop the recording or end the conversation, Skype will upload the conversation to the cloud and display it in the chat window, where it can be accessed for up to 30 days by all users of the chat.

Note: If you are on a video call, Skype will record everyone’s video plus any screens shared during the call. Nothing will be left out of the recording.

How To Record Phone Calls With A Mac

Want to record a phone call from a Mac? Maybe you’re interviewing someone for a podcast and want to record both sides of the conversation? Maybe you want to record a phone call for quality and training purposes? Whatever the purpose, there are several different ways to record a phone call from a Mac, but we’re going to go with perhaps the easiest method that is decidedly low tech but highly reliable.

Note we are recording a phone call from an iPhone or Android phone, or even an old dumb phone, to a Mac. This is different from recording an iPhone call on an iPhone using something like voicemail, since the captured audio file ends up on the Mac.

Important: Be aware there are many differing laws pertaining to recording phone calls, and it is entirely your responsibility to determine which is relevant for your situation and your location. Be sure to check your local laws before recording any phone call. Often, all parties need to consent to the call being recorded. When in doubt, get clear consent to record a phone call before doing so, or do not record the call. Failure to properly get consent for recording a phone call may land you into serious trouble, it is entirely your responsibility to determine what laws apply to you in your locality, state, and country.

How to Record a Phone Call from a Mac

You will need a Mac with a built-in microphone (or external microphone), an iPhone or Android, and a quiet place to make the phone call from.

From the Mac, open “QuickTime Player” and go to the “File” menu and choose “New Audio Recording”

Position the Mac and phone so that they are near one another

Mute the Mac audio output by pressing the mute button on the keyboard

From the iPhone (or Android), call the person or number, and get their clear unambiguous approval and consent that you are going to record the phone call

Place the active phone call onto speaker phone mode

Save the audio recording file as usual in QuickTime Player

This is a simple solution that isn’t particularly complex, but it’s great because it works with nearly any phone, and on nearly any Mac, as long as that Mac has a microphone, and as long as the phone has speakerphone capabilities (on iPhone you can put a call on speakerphone by pressing the speaker button, or even by starting the speakerphone call from Siri). Because of it’s simplicity, it’s also highly reliable.

For better audio quality of the recorded phone call, you might want to try making a VOIP call from the iPhone or Android. On iPhone you can make VOIP calls through FaceTime Audio, Skype, or even cellular network wi-fi. On Android, you can make VOIP calls through Skype, cellular wi-fi services, and various other apps too. VOIP calls usually sound better, which makes the audio recording of the phone call sound better as well.

The major downside to recording phone calls on a Mac with this solution is that the audio quality is not going to be as high as it could be, and any other ambient sounds could potentially get recorded as well. But most phone calls are not exactly high definition anyway, so whether or not you’d be able to tell the difference between this approach and a more professional setup is debatable. Some podcasts and reporters record phone calls this way, or by using a similar method of just capturing audio outputted from a speaker phone call, so it’s not a rare method or unique approach by any means.

You can also record phone calls using another audio recording app on the Mac, but recording audio with QuickTime in Mac OS is simple and fast and it’s available as a feature in many versions of the app throughout various releases of the Mac OS operating system, which makes it reliable on many different Macs.

Are there more high-tech solutions? Of course! You can do direct line audio capture from the iPhone with a microphone for your own voice, you could direct line capture from a phone call made from the Mac by way of an iPhone, or you could rig both ends of the call can use microphones to record their sides of the conversation which can then be pieced together in an audio editing app, or you could use fancy microphones to capture the speakerphone output as well, but each of those situations is more complex than simply using the Macs built-in microphones (on MacBook Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air, and iMac models), and the iPhone or Android built-in speakerphone feature. Another option is to record the call directly on the iPhone using the voicemail call recording trick, or various other third party apps or solutions available for iOS, but those situations wouldn’t use a Mac of course.

How To Get Google Voice On Ios

A free service that lets you make phone calls or send messages on the iPhone, Google Voice has long been a popular alternative to the default dialer. While Apple doesn’t allow you to replace any default app, placing the Google Voice app on your iPhone dock is the next best thing. If you have not heard of Google Voice, do not worry, as you are not alone. Whether you are a traveler or someone who values privacy, Google Voice can be a handy tool that is well worth knowing.

What Is Google Voice?

Simply defined, Google Voice is a free application that enables you to make and receive calls without using your existing phone number. Once you sign up, you are assigned a US-based phone number that is yours to keep forever.

Set Up Google Voice

1. If you do not already have the Google Voice app, head to the App Store and download it here.

2. Open the application and sign in if you have an existing Google account. Alternatively, create a new Google account if you do not.

3. Select “Search” to find a phone number to use. You can help choose a number by city so you can get the right area code if available. Otherwise, you are likely to get something as near to you as possible.

4. Next, you will be asked if you wish to “Link this device to Google Voice.” Go ahead and select “Next.”

5. In this step, enter your existing mobile number. It is important that you do that so Google Voice calls can be forwarded to your iPhone.

6. A verification code will be sent to your device. Enter it and you are ready to use the Google Voice app.

Making Calls

The simplified look and feel of the Google Voice app makes it easy to place calls. Upon opening the app, you are presented with four icons at the bottom of the screen. The one to the far left is a phone icon which unsurprisingly is where you make a call. Select that icon and you are presented with a few things on the screen.

First, you will see a recent call log, not dissimilar from what the default dialer app shows on the iPhone. Outgoing, incoming and missed calls are all identified by red and green icons. Both time and date are presented to help you know when a call was placed or received.

Secondly, you will see a green button toward the bottom right that looks like a dial pad. Tap that icon, enter any phone number you wish to contact and then hit the green button toward the bottom middle. Making calls with Google Voice is that simple. You will also see a list of suggested contacts including favorites and those you have recently contacted.

Sending Messages

Like the dial button, the messages icon is also easily discovered on the bottom row of icons presented when first opening the app. Second from right, the messages button takes you into your previous message history. You are immediately shown history including date, time and messages. You can also search the app for message history at the top of the screen where it says “Search Google Voice.”

To send a new message, tap on the green button at the bottom right that looks like a pencil. You can now select a contact to send a message to or type in any number at the top. After selecting a contact, the bottom of the screen highlights “Type a message.” Once a message is written, a little arrow appears which acts as a “send” button.

Contacts and Voicemail

The remaining two icons in the Google Voice app dock are contacts and voicemail. Both are very self-explanatory. The contact list is mostly made up of previous Google accounts if you have a Gmail account or previous contacts you have called or messaged before. The voicemail is, well, voicemail. There are associated dates and times when voicemails arrived as well as text transcripts, if available.

The list of customizable options goes on and on. Some additional favorites include being able to hide your caller ID on outgoing calls. Another favorite is the ability to have your calls prescreened by making callers enter their name before ringing your Google Voice number. A “Do not disturb” option allows you to disable message forwarding and sends calls right to voicemail. Record your own voicemail separate from the default Apple dialer voicemail. There are some powerful options enabled by Google Voice that Apple omits from its default client.

While it will not replace the built-in dialer any time soon thanks to Apple’s refusal to allow setting third-party default apps, Google Voice is a powerful secondary option. That it recently added deeper integration with Siri for making calls and sending messages by saying “Hey Siri, call mom with Google Voice” is yet another example of how much Google Voice can supercharge your iPhone experience. Best of all, it is 100 percent free. Are you a Google Voice user?

Nowadays, there are hundreds of streaming and on-demand platforms for media and entertainment, from popular radio, and webcast stations, to blockbuster new movies, videos, and podcasts.

However, there are only a handful of tools to manage them all and that’s how we got to Audials One 2023, the best media recording and management solution you can get right now.

This software piece not only looks and feels like a great entertainment platform but also comes with a great player and convertor that can handle any media you would throw at it.

We must tell you right now that the newest version is ready for Windows 11 so if you already upgraded to the new OS, this tool will fit right in.

That being said, let’s get close and personal with the Audials One 2023, explore its features, and test its awesome capabilities.

What is Audials One 2023 and how can it help you manage your media?

A short description of Audials One 2023 would be the ultimate streaming recording software for your PC.

However, that wouldn’t bring it full justice since it can do a lot more than that. In fact, with this solution, you won’t be needing any other media tool.

That’s because Audials One 2023 can play almost any media, convert your audio and video files in seconds and the built-in audio and video players are simply awesome.

Let’s not forget the built-in video editing tool that can help you turn your recordings into professional-looking movies in seconds.

Plus, it’s a great cinema buff tool because it can stream movies from a bevy of streaming and on-demand platforms and even add subtitles very easily.

Moreover, it saves your favorite video stream from Amazon Prime, Hulu, and all the other on-demand platforms as well as records your favorite music from Spotify, Deezer, and more.

Audials 2023 is new and just got released so first, we’re going to talk about its new features.

What are the Audials One 2023 new features? 1. New browser recorder

Audials One 2023 works just like a web browser and helps you to search for movies and series from any video streaming service and then play them back so you can watch the video while being recorded.

Select the Rec from beginning option to save the entire movie. Of course, you may also record it in the background in order to continue to use other functions in the meantime.

We’ve shown you how it looks on Netflix but you can do this for any video streaming website. It’s simple as selecting the video and hitting the Record now button.

The browser comes with a brand-new overview of streaming sources that makes it a lot easier to find your favorite.

However, the best parts are that you’re now able to record Netflix with 5.1 surround sound and any streaming source super-fast at twice (2x) the speed.

There’s also a batch recording available that does exactly what it says: records multiple movies or episodes of a show at the same time.

That’s a great feature if you want to seamlessly get a whole series or a library of movies overnight. And if the streaming service permits, you can even save them in up to 4K resolution.

2. Simple and precise video editor

You only need to select the start and finish point and hit the Apply button to make the cut. And you are free to make the selection within a split of a second margin thanks to the zooming slider from the bottom-left.

Some videos from certain sources will record with black bars but you can eliminate those too with the simple to use cropping tool.

3. Subtitles search engine

Gone are the days when you were endlessly searching online for the right subtitle for your new movie because Audials One 2023 comes with a built-in subtitles search engine.

This feature helps you to find subtitles in almost any language and add them to your recordings with pinpoint accuracy.

And you don’t need to finish recording either because you can automatically insert subtitles during the process.

4. New music main screen for artists, genres, and top charts

Audials One 2023 comes with a newly designed main screen for artists, genres, and top charts for your music.

You may browse, edit, and listen to your own library of songs on your PC or stream and download tunes from any source in a very simple fashion.

There’s absolutely nothing left out from this main console. You just indicate the music folders from your PC and Audials will get it straight away.

As for getting your favorite songs, just hit the Load button and search for your preferred artists or songs and you can then stream them, download them or add them to a playlist with a drag-and-drop motion of your mouse.

It is up to you to look at the charts for any genre to keep up with the trends and listen to the newest hits. There’s even an option to look for related artists and news from your favorite ones.

So, you are also one step away from buying tickets to their new gigs from all over the world.

All looks awesome because Audials One 2023 automatically fetches the album covers for you and associates the songs to their respective albums.

5. Download and record music streams

Then, you can tag them or let Audials do that automatically. Just make sure you log into your account in the streaming service, and you have permission to download the songs.

The new version of Audials has extensive support for Tidal now. Download music from Tidal with drag-and-drop, but you may also do that in Spotify, Soundcloud, and other streaming services.

6. Great music management

If you’re an audiophile, Audials One 2023 will swiftly become your preferred player and that’s simply because of the friendliest but complex music management window.

It’s up to you to decide if you’re going to go with an old-style playlist set or organize your music collection with styles, tags, genres, and feels.

Audials will set it all up, but you can customize all the playlists and songs to your entire collection in a few seconds.

The software lets you choose if you want to organize your recordings into folders and then decide on what information the folders should include.

And when you’re done organizing the playlists, you have the option to export them back to a streaming service or another music player installed on your PC.

As your collection grows bigger, Audials helps you find and delete duplicates or prioritize the versions you like better.

How can I get Audials One 2023?

The download and installation process is incredibly simple. It just takes a couple of seconds from your time and a little empty space on your drive.

You should know that simply downloading the app will get you the Demo version that will allow you to see all its features, but it will only download 10 minutes of a movie in this version.

For unlimited usage, you will need to purchase the full version by hitting the Buy now button you will see on the bottom left of the main window.

You can go with an annual subscription or purchase the product with one fixed amount and use it forever.

Pros Cons Just 10 minutes of recording in the Demo version Final notes

All of those and many others are included in Audials One 2023 so what more would we need? Oh, and we didn’t mention the podcasts and TV stations search and streaming and the seamless file convertor.

How about a file browser that will help you go through your PC and find all the content convenient? Yeah, Audials has that too.

We were simply impressed by this software and the fact that it’s optimized even for the new Windows 11 is definitely a great plus.

How To Train Siri To Recognize Only Your Voice On Iphone

Siri is a smart virtual assistant that lets you perform several tasks like playing music, controlling smart devices, reading the latest news, setting up an alarm, and more. While it has vastly improved in terms of accuracy, it’s far from perfect.

One of the frustrating issues that most of us have to deal with is that Siri often tends to get triggered by others’ voices. But did you know that you can train Siri so that it can recognize only your voice on iPhone? Well, if you are curious to give this nifty hack a try, keep reading…

Retrain Siri to Recognize Only Your Voice Using iPhone

Training Siri makes sure that Siri does not fail to ever recognize your voice or mistake it for some random noise. Though there is no official way to retrain Siri using your iPhone, there are some viable ways.

To get started, open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Tap on Siri & Search.

After that, turn off the toggles for Listen for Hey Siri and Press Side/Home Button for Siri.

To train Siri, you just have to go through 5 stages in which you need to narrate the given phrases on the screen, like “Hey Siri” or ” Hey Siri, it’s me” so that Siri fully recognizes your voice.

Even though this training procedure is to ensure Siri clearly identifies your voice, it does not necessarily mean that the virtual assistant will not recognize any other voice. It is just to enhance Siri’s capability to analyze the voice accurately and react to it promptly.

The one tip that is required during the training procedure is that you do not have to hold your device too close or too far from you, just at the right talking distance and Siri will smoothly register your voice for future purposes.

Additionally, I would also recommend you go through the setup procedure in a quiet place room so that Siri does not get distracted by other voices. Give these handy tips a try and I’m sure they will work wonderfully. Since I have found success with these very tips, I’m very optimistic that they will do the job for you as well.

Summing Up..!

Now that you have set up your Siri as well as trained it for efficient functioning, you can use the virtual assistant to carry out various tasks even when you do not have your iPhone near you.

Siri can operate requests both online and offline and you can make changes such as language, dictation, and voice that the personal assistant uses. One thing that you need to keep in mind is that if you have older versions of iOS devices, you will be required to plug in your device in order to invoke Siri via the voice command.

If you wish to get the most out of Apple’s visual assistant, make sure to check out our equally interesting articles including how to eject water from iPhone using Siri shortcut, correct Siri’s pronunciation of names, and force Siri to wait longer for you to finish speaking.
