In short, they announced the promo online and invited customers to buy coffee at their store, post it, and win.

McDonald’s did the same with integrating offline with online experience. They launched Foursquare Day: asked customers to check in their stores, post it on Foursquare, and the first 100 gets a gift card. The in-store foot traffic was increased by 33%. The only cost for both McDonald’s and Starbucks are the gift cards, which of course are still related to their brand. This is an example of how to successfully connect your marketing efforts online and your offline store.

A small pizza parlor or a two-decade old coffee shop should not be contented with running a small operation and banking on length of time of doing business. Major brands haven’t stopped being major, so why should you? Running a digital strategy is content-driven and anchored on online tools, making it cost-effective and dynamic. Banks And Big Business Scramble For Their Own Digital Cash

Last week Reuters reported that several of the world’s biggest banks have invested $50 million to “create a digital cash system to settle financial transactions”. It’s an on-going project, according to the report, involving the likes UBS, Credit Suisse, Barclays, and Deutsche Bank.

Banks are being tight-lipped on the project, and it should be noted that Reuters’ report involved an unnamed source, but there was a confirmation from a Barclays’ spokeswoman that the bank is involved in the USC (utility settlement coin) project and that the research and development stage had come to an end.

Any mainstream interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain is always significant, of course. But should it determine whether we buy Bitcoin or other digital currencies? That is to say, should backers of crypto be worried that banks creating their own digital currency be worried that the likes of Bitcoin, Ripple, etc. will be shunted aside?

In truth, investors in cryptocurrencies shouldn’t worry too much, certainly in the short term. Financial institutions have been notoriously slow in not only embracing the possibilities of blockchain technology but in addressing the problems that they are trying to solve.

The new entity banks are reported to be creating to run the project, Fnality, is aimed at making clearing and settlement in financial markets more efficient. This is not a new issue, but something that has made financial transactions cumbersome for decades.

The point is, one could argue, that while financial institutions are addressing issues that have been around since the 1970s, those developing cryptocurrencies could be stealing a march on financial solutions for the 2023s. Banks will be looking for solutions to long-standing problems, whereas developers will be looking for solutions to problems that have not yet been pinpointed.

Yes, some investors will welcome mainstream embracing of crypto – in any form – as a positive sign, but it is the sense of ‘rule-breaking’ at the development level that has always made cryptocurrency an existing investment.

Facebook also interested in crypto

Banks, of course, are not alone in making a foray into the world of cryptocurrency. Facebook has also been upping its plans to create a digital currency. The so-called ‘Facecoin’ or, as has been reported, Project Libra, is creating quite the stir, albeit it is still shrouded in secrecy. Most observers believe it will be used to facilitate payments, and that it will be a stablecoin.

The speculation around Facebook’s digital coin has ramped up in recent weeks. And, as so often the case with anything to do with Mark Zuckerberg, a bit of hyperbole has infused the reporting. It’s been suggested that Facebook “has lit a fire’ under Bitcoin and crypto”, and that “it’s a catalyst for mainstream Bitcoin and cryptocurrency adoption” around the world.

Take all of this with a pinch of salt. At the same time as being told Facebook is creating a “rival to Bitcoin”, we are also told it’s a catalyst for Bitcoin adoption. The truth is that we do not know exactly what banks or Facebook or planning, nor what that impact will be further down the line.

Yet, through all of this increased speculation in the first half of 2023 of mainstream financial and tech giants exploring crypto, that has coincided with Bitcoin going on a tear throughout the year so far. For most investors, that’s the important thing, not the speculation on other projects.

Over 4000 ecommerce merchants including leading retailers within the IR500, responded to a survey by Marketing Sherpa following a research grant from Magento, the ecommerce software provider.

The eMarketing Sherpa eCommerce Benchmark Study found what percentage of their marketing budget eCommerce brands are spending per channel based on the company’s revenue.

Ecommerce brands spend 10-24% of their budget on SEO

Low revenue companies with an average of $1 million turnover spend more than double the percentage of their budget on SEO (24%), compared to larger revenue brands with an average of $100 million turnover (10%).

It’s fair to say that most companies with a revenue in excess of $100 million have been established online for longer than companies with an average of $1 million in revenue. Therefore, this “doubling-down” on average SEO spend shown in this data reflects that new companies have to put in more budget to get SEO off the ground.

Long established companies with a bigger reputation will have already built more authority over time and therefore require a smaller percentage of their revenue to be spent on building links.

Ecommerce brands spend 29-57% of their budget on Paid Search

This research shows that ecommerce companies with on average less than $1 million revenue spend the highest percentage of their marketing budget on the paid search channel, with 35% of marketing budget going on this channel.

Ecommerce brands spend 39-81% of their budget on SEO & PPC combined

The research shows that companies with an average of $1 million in revenue spend the large majority (81%) of their marketing budget on SEO and PPC combined.

Larger brands with $100 million average turnover spend more than a third (39%) of their entire marketing budget on SEO and PPC combined.

What should I budget for ecommerce SEO & PPC?

According to BRAD’s 2023 research of over 6,000 brands, the majority of marketing budgets are based on 2-15% of revenue, which means $1 million turnover companies are budgeting 81% of their revenue on SEO and PPC at $16,200 – $121,500 per year ($1,350 – $10,125 per month).

Corporate marketing budgets are typically a larger percentage of revenue with larger turnover companies spending 7-66% of turnover on marketing. Therefore $100 million turnover companies are budgeting 39% of their revenue on SEO and PPC at $2,730,000 – $25,740,000 per year ($227,500 – $2,145,000 per month).

What does your own data tell you?

Although this research is incredibly insightful to understand what your competitors are doing and the ecommerce industry as a whole. The most important and relevant benchmarks are always your own. If you’re lucky enough to have one or more years’ worth of data with ecommerce tracking, this data is not to be ignored.

If your website is driving a good amount of revenue from a variety of channels, then shifting budgets between channels, especially SEO and PPC, should be very carefully monitored and tested.

If you have been keeping up with the latest Pixel 6 news, you would know that Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are automatically calling random contacts. This is happening due to Google Assistant, and Google is already working on a fix. Meanwhile, you can disable Google Assistant on the lock screen to stop the device from pocket dialing your contacts. 2. Here, tap on ‘Lock screen’ and then disable the “Assistant responses on lock screen” toggle on the next page. Google Assistant will no longer automatically call people on your Pixel 6 moving forward.

Nova Launcher Crash Issues

Pixel 6 Overheating/ Throttling Issue

There’s no hiding the fact that users are facing overheating issues with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Users report that the device gets noticeably warm even with regular browsing and using social media apps. Moreover, in our testing, we have discovered that the Pixel 6 is throttling performance at temperatures over 40-degrees. It is difficult to enjoy a simple game like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, or other popular and best Android games.

The worst part is that there is no tangible fix for the Pixel 6 overheating problem. You could try simple fixes like switching off 5G whenever it is not in use, keeping the device away from direct sunlight, and killing resource-intensive apps when you are not using them.

Poor Video Call Quality

According to multiple user reports, the output shown in the front camera viewfinder is grainy, resulting in an underwhelming video calling experience. It seems to be happening even on Google’s own video calling app Duo. That said, user reports on the Pixel Support page suggest that Google plans to fix this in a future software update. If you are facing this issue, you hopefully won’t have to wait too long for a fix.

Slow Charging Speeds

If you have noticed slow charging issues on your Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, it is, unfortunately, a feature and not a bug. Although Google is urging customers to get a 30W charging brick, independent tests have found that the Pixel 6’s charging speed maxes out at 22W. This is a weird Pixel 6 problem with essentially no solution readily available at the moment.

As a workaround, Google recommends not cycling the power button and pressing and holding it instead to switch on the device. Google has promised to fix the display residual light issue with the December software update.

Turn off Game Dashboard

Game Dashboard is an excellent Android 12 feature that offers a variety of useful tools to improve your gaming experience. However, you might not find it useful if you are an occasional gamer. If you are annoyed by the Game Dashboard icon pop-up whenever you open one of the best casual Android games, you can choose to disable Game Dashboard.

Fix Assistant Voice Typing

Gboard’s Assistant voice typing is one of the highlights of Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The feature offers a hands-free experience and lets you type, edit, and send messages with your voice. How To Connect Your Galaxy Nexus To Ubuntu And Enable File Transfer

Why is this so?

Most older Android phones are using the USB block mode to connect to your computer. In this mode, the computer will see your phone’s SD card as a USB device and mounts it as one. The bad thing about this USB block mode is that once your SD card is mounted in the computer, it won’t be functional in the phone. Any app that depends on the SD card will fail to work during the time when your device is connected to the computer.

Ubuntu doesn’t come pre-installed with support for MTP, that’s why you can’t get your computer to see the phone after you have plugged it into the USB port.

gMTP is a simple MP3 and Media player client for MTP-based device. It provides a GUI for you to mount your Galaxy Nexus and transfer files in/out of it. We will need to compile some code in the process. Follow the steps below and you will be fine.

1. Open a terminal. Install libusb-dev

sudo

apt-get install

libusb-dev

2. We are going to need a copy of the libmtp file. The version in the Ubuntu repo is outdated, so we need to download the latest version of libmtp here. (For your info, I am using libmtp-1.1.2.tar.gz).

3. Extract the libmtp file to your Home folder. Back to the terminal:

cd

libmtp-1.1.2 .

/

configure

--prefix

=

/

usr

make

sudo

make

install

This will compile and install the libmtp file.

4. Lastly, install gMTP

sudo

apt-get install

gmtp

Now, plug in your Galaxy Nexus and open gMTP. Press the Connect button. If successful, you should see the SD card folder of your Galaxy Nexus. You can now transfer files using the Add/Download button.

Note:

1. Even if it is connected in gMTP, your device won’t appear in the File Manager. You can manage your files transfer only in the gMTP GUI.

2. When attempting to download files from your phone, it will return an error saying the file is not found. This is because the default Download path has been to set to “/” (root) and you have no permission to write to the root folder. To change this, simply open the Preferences and change the Download path to “/home/username” or any other path that you desire.
