Suggested January 2024 4 Of The Best Download Managers For Android

When a file is downloaded with the default browser on Android, it might be possible to pause, but that’s usually all. With a download manager, it is possible to bulk-download, pause, restart, resume, and do many, many other things. Below, four of the best download managers for Android are listed.

1. Fast Download Manager

Along with speed, there are other neat features like torrent support, a built-in web browser and file manager, no file download restrictions, and even a “no bother mode.” This download manager truly has a lot going for it. If you’re in the market for a new download manager, consider this one.

2. Downloader Private Browser

Most download managers simply let you get files from the Internet and manage them by being able to pause, resume, bulk download, automatically sort the downloaded files into folders, and more. However, how many download managers on Android respect your privacy?

Meet Downloader & Private Browser. With it, users can download files the normal way most download managers work. Along with that, the program allows users to keep downloaded files in complete privacy. Users are able to keep a pin number to secure downloaded files, and all files are kept in a secure, private folder.

3. Download Manager for Android

4. Advanced Download Manager

Advanced Downloader for Android is an interesting tool. It is similar to most download managers in that it can get multiple files at once, accelerates download speeds and has support for background downloading and multiple file types. It has pretty much the same set of features that we’ve seen on all the other list items. What sets Advanced Downloader apart is the theme support.

With this app, not only will users be able to get their files in a faster and more efficient way, but they’ll be able to do it with an interface that fits them. There are tons of themes to choose from so that users can take this app and make it more personal. If you’ve gone through this list and still haven’t landed on a manager, you might want to give this one a chance.

Downloading files should be easy to do while using an Android phone, but most mobile internet browsers make this an annoying and lacking experience. That’s why more people should ditch downloading with their mobile browsers. Instead, start using one of the download managers shown on this list. Each and every one of them is useful and will help make downloading on mobile easier in its own way.

That certainly seems to be the case with Adobe Premiere Pro as well, as it has become an industry-leading video editor that everyone uses.

The timeline-based interface is organized in a way that caters to both new and veteran users, and the toolset makes it so that you can do pretty much anything to your video files, including transcribing them.

Install Express Scribe on your computer and you’ll literally become a better typist. This tool lets you control audio playback so that you never miss a word.

Express Scribe supports both audio and video playback and plays most formats, including encrypted dictation files. The tool comes in two versions: a free version, and a premium one.

It is worth mentioning that the free version supports only common audio formats, including WAV, MP3, WMA, and DCT.

In other words, if you often transcribe from audio formats that are not frequently used, we recommend buying the Pro version of the tool.

Express Scribe supports professional USB foot pedals to control playback. Of course, you can also use hotkeys to control playback when transcribing into Word or other similar software.

Other features include:

Dock both analog and digital portable voice recorders to load recordings

Works with speech recognition software to automatically convert speech to text

Works with FastFox text expander for entering medical/legal phrases and common phrases with keyboard shortcuts

Express Scribe

Transcribe your audio and video playbacks, play most file formats, and control your audio playback with Express Scribe

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a very versatile speech recognition software that can also help you transcribe audio recordings a lot faster. If you aren’t fast at typing, this tool will save the day.

To transcribe audio with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you first need to pair the software with a compatible recorder. Then go to Tools and open a DragonPad.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking will then transcribe the audio file into the recently opened DragonPad. The only downside is that there will be no punctuation in the transcription, so you’ll need to add it yourself.

To make sure that that the transcription is flawless, you should also go over the whole text while listening to the audio recording. The tool is accurate only with one speaker at a time.

Expert tip:

On the link below (the official NUANCE webpage) you can choose between multiple versions and you also have a feature list for each version at your disposal.

InqScribe is a powerful transcription tool that lets you play audio recordings and videos and type your transcripts in the exact same window.

This is an excellent feature as it gives you better visibility over the entire transcription process.

InqScribe is compatible with most media players out there. It can play audio and video files from your hard drive, flash drive, CD, server, or URL.

You can control playback using custom shortcuts and keep your hands on the keyboard at all times. The software also support USB foot pedals, but this is optional.

Once you’re done, you can share your transcripts via file or email. InqScribe can import and export data in the following formats: plain text, tab-delimited text, XML, HTML (export only), Final Cut Pro XML (export only), Spruce STL (export only), Subrip (export only), WebVTT (export only).

⇒ Get InqScribe

Audiotranskription is useful transcription software that allows you to slow down, as well as speed up audio playback.

In this manner, you can adapt the audio to your typing speed, and then speed the audio recording when proofreading your work.

The program comes with an interesting feature that automatically rewinds audio a little when you hit the pause button so that you can hear the last two words again.

Audiotranskription also types the speakers’ names in dialogues and marks them in different colors. The tool automatically inserts timestamps while typing.

This feature comes in very handy if you want to check an incomprehensible paragraph later. However, sometimes the software inserts the wrong timestamp, but in most cases, it gets it right.

⇒ Get Audiotranskription

The automatic transcription software currently available often fails at transcribing audio recordings.

The more variables (multiple speakers, background noise, non-native speakers, etc.), the lower the performance of these tools.

For the time being, nothing replaces the good old manual process of audio transcription. Indeed, this process takes more time and involves more money.

If you really want a good transcription tool, you’ll have to pay for it. Of course, you can use a free transcription tool, but the results are simply not the same.

We guarantee you that the four transcription tools listed above will make your transcription job much easier. Select the one that best suits your needs and start transcribing right now!

4 Recommended Code Editors For Android

Coding on the go isn’t difficult with a good Bluetooth keyboard or the virtual approximation of a physical keyboard. The biggest challenge lies in finding a suitable compiler that will perform when inspiration strikes you. Check out the following Android code editors for when you’re away from the computer.

Whether you are a learner, a hobbyist or an enthusiastic developer, there’s something for everyone here. Although this list should not be viewed for its rankings, the coding apps have been progressively recommended for learners all the way up to professionals.

1. Turbo Editor

Turbo Editor delivers in terms of being a complete learner’s text editor. Supporting several languages including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, the editor does what it promises with fewer ad distractions. But there’s a feeling that somebody decided to cut corners. The biggest annoyance is a bug which doesn’t allow you to preview results. It can also be difficult to form indents or to find a line of code.

Pros: A neat Spartan interface to hone your coding skills in an Open Source environment. You can easily share your results over Hangouts and transfer files from your local SD cards.

Cons: Mostly a work in progress. But, if they fix the bugs, Turbo Editor has real potential.

2. Dcoder

Dcoder can save your day if you are trapped in long public commutes and could do with a few creative spells. It works decently even with your native Android keyboard. One of the best for learning IDEs, the app allows you to choose from over thirty languages. Featuring a rich text editor with syntax highlighting, the output is visible right on the window, which is reassuring. The “Design Now” feature is ideal for web developers. The app is generally free, but the paid version isn’t too expensive.

Pros: A nice Android compiler with zero troubles. Perfect for learners.

Cons: The GoPro version promises to be much more but is still not very profitable for serious developers.

3. DroidEdit

Pros: The app is everything that a mobile IDE should be. Therefore, it is ideal for professionals.

4. AIDE (Android Interactive Development Environment)

AIDE offers an expert interface and leaves nothing behind in its presentation as a full development kit. It has a comprehensive list of free learning tutorials along with support for the Eclipse project. The app feels intuitive at every step due to reduced compilation efforts. Whether you want to hone your web programming skills or develop your dream software, AIDE does not beat around the bush.

Pros: This is a lovely app. You can develop everything from mobile games to high quality apps right on your Android device.

Cons: None that might be of a major concern.

What is your favorite mobile coding interface?

5 Of The Best Camera Apps For Android You Should Try

Some of us are content to stick with whatever stock app is thrown at us with our given Android device, and there’s no question that the default offerings from the Android big boys like Samsung, HTC and Google itself are top-shelf stuff.

1. Paper Camera

With a Google rating of 4.5, Paper Camera is the peoples’ choice for the title of “Best Camera App on Android.” Of course, different strokes for different folks, different apps for different chaps, etc., but with the lovely, versatile sketch-style filters you can play with in Paper Camera, it’s easily the most fun camera app out there.

The filters available here are different than those you’ll find anywhere else, creating a natural, sketchbook feel to your photos through filters like comic book, cartoon, sketch, and (my personal fave) neon. It may not be as feature-rich as other apps, but you won’t care because the results of using this really are special.

Price: $2.49

2. Cymera

No list of the best Android camera apps would be complete without Cymera. Apart from the wealth of editing options included in this app, you get automatic face recognition as well as a choice of fifteen unique watermark designs for your photos. There is a built-in “smart” gallery which can categorize your photos based on location, or you can group all your selfies together. Sharing your shots with friends is as easy as it gets with built-in sharing options for Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and more.

Price: FREE

3. Manual Camera

As a result, you get a range of features such as manual shutter speed, manual ISO, manual exposure compensation, the ability to save images in lossless RAW format for further processing and much more. If complete control over every detail of your photos appeals to you, Manual Camera should be your next purchase.

Price: $2.99

4. Camera Zoom FX

With over 5 million users, Camera Zoom FX is another great alternative to the stock Android camera. It sports a busy interface with buttons at the top and bottom of the app which link to a host of features and settings. It supports an array of filters that you can apply to your photos, and if those aren’t enough you can download additional ones from the Play Store. You can also perform other editing actions such as cropping, rotating, flipping, adding frames or creating collages from within the app, as can also shoot videos.

Price: Free / $2.99

5. Open Camera

Ever heard of Open Camera? It has a lot of notable features and is the best open-source camera option on Android. Thanks to its open-source nature, it’s constantly being updated by its tireless community. Onboard, you have face detection, auto-level, touch to focus and auto repeat mode. Everything on it is highly customizable, too – from the look of the grid overlay to the volume keys which you can reassign to all manner of camera functions. Isn’t open-source wonderful?

Price: Free

With this fine bunch to choose from, every kind of smartphone-happy snapper should find something that’s right for them. Did your favorite camera app for Android make our illustrious list? If not, let us know what it is and what makes it so special. Who knows, it might just make the list one day.

The Google Pixel 6 Is Android Authority’S Pick For Best Phone Of 2023

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Smartphone seasons come and go and there are always a handful of standout devices. Regardless, only one can be crowned the best phone of the year, whether it’s the best Android phone or the best smartphone generally.

In this article, we share Android Authority’s Editor’s Choice winner for the best phone of 2023, alongside those devices that placed in the top five. We’ve now also crowned our Reader’s Choice best phone of 2023 winner and awarded our full list of the best products of 2023.

We review a lot of tech but phones have always been our bread and butter.

We review a lot of tech here at Android Authority but phones have always been our bread and butter. Hundreds of hours go into reviewing, testing, and comparing the best of the best from all segments of the mobile market. Our team of seasoned reviewers and writers know the tech we write about better than anyone. But as the year draws to a close our team crowns our pick for the best phone of the year, based on not just performance but also value for money and other intangibles like long-term support.

First, we create a shortlist based on the most important and well-rated phones we’ve tested throughout the year. Then we ensure our list has devices from all major brands and price points. We include devices sold in the US only as well as globally. Finally, we submit the list to a vote. Our most experienced reviewers assign points based on their picks and the phone with the most points overall wins. Simple.

Android Authority‘s Editor’s Choice phone of the year: Google Pixel 6

Jimmy Westenberg / Android Authority

When the dust settled on voting this year it wasn’t even close. We had a very clear winner on our hands. The Pixel 6 offers a feature set almost as full as its more expensive stablemate but with a price tag that cannot be ignored. The Google Pixel 6 is Android Authority’s Editor’s Choice phone of the year for 2023.

The Pixel 6 has a price tag that cannot be ignored for what it delivers.

At just $599, we called the Pixel 6 one of the easiest-to-recommend phones of the year in our review. Google is finally taking making smartphones seriously and the Pixel 6 is a breath of fresh air. It packs much of the flagship experience of the Pixel 6 Pro but shaves off just the right parts to get the price down. We think the Pixel 6 is the best phone for most people in 2023.

Don’t miss: Pixel 6 series buyer’s guide

Google Pixel 6

The more affordable Pixel

The Google Pixel 6 features a 6.4-inch FHD+ display and runs on the all-new Google Tensor SoC. It has an upgraded camera system, exclusive software features, and offers some of the best hardware Google has ever produced.

Reinforcing just how great both Samsung’s and Google’s product lines were this year, we had a tie for third place: the Pixel 6 Pro and Galaxy Z Fold 3. Google’s more expensive phone and Samsung’s fancier foldable both scored highly with our team. Both devices add a telephoto lens that the base model Pixel 6 and Samsung’s other 2023 foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 3, miss out on.

You certainly can’t say we’re biased against Apple when two iPhones tied for fifth spot. (In case you think our math is off, we consider the Pixel 6 Pro and Z Fold 3 to have taken places three and four). While there wasn’t anything mind-blowing in this year’s iPhones, they iterated well on the already-excellent iPhone 12 series. iPhones have gotten really good in the last couple of years and are great options for a lot of people.

Recap: Check out our 2023 Editor’s Choice winner and 2023 Reader’s Choice winner.

10 Best Archery Games For Android

The best archery games for Android

Price: Free to play

Archery Big Match is a simple archery game with decent, but not amazing graphics. Players take aim at moving targets and try to hit the bullseye. The game includes offline, local multiplayer, various items to help your gameplay, support for 16 languages, and multiple game modes. We particularly enjoyed stuff like the wind affecting arrow flight. It’s a free-to-play game, but it seems to be one of the better archery games for Android.

Archery Club

Price: Free to play

Archery Club is a fairly vanilla archer experience. You get a bow and arrow along with some targets to hit. You work on hitting them without missing them. It has a typical progression system. You play, earn upgrades, and then perform better with those upgrades. The game also includes an online PvP mode where you can face off against other players. It’s free to play, but luckily the microtransactions aren’t too bad. You could definitely do way worse.

Archery Elite

Price: Free to play

Archery Elite is another up-and-coming archery game for mobile. This one boasts a more varied experience with several game modes, including online PvP mode, an offline mode, tons of unlockable content, and more. The competitive nature of the game and its free-to-play price tag does make it difficult to win without spending money. However, as a time killer, it’s not a bad arcade archery game.

Archery Master 3D

Price: Free to play

Archery Master 3D is one of the most popular archery games on Android at the time of this writing with over 900,000 reviews on Google Play. The game features four locations, about two dozen pieces of gear to collect, over 100 levels, and online PvP multiplayer. It hits all of the marks, pun intended, for a good free-to-play archery game on mobile. The graphics are clean and the gameplay is satisfying. Of course, the free-to-play part kicks in after a bit, but it’s still one of the better archery games on mobile.

Archery Physics Shooting Challenge

Price: $0.99

Archery Physics Shooting Challenge is a niche title in the archery games space. It costs $0.99 and has no additional in-app purchases. It’s a good choice for those who dislike free to play titles. The game features 70 levels, surprisingly decent graphics, decent bow and arrow flight mechanics, and support for offline game play. It’s a fairly basic target shooting game, but it’s a cheap one for those on a budget.

Archery World Champion 3D

Price: Free to play

Archery World Champion 3D is another up-and-coming archery game. It’s also one of the largest. The game comes packed with 390 single-player levels, 270 dual game levels, and an online social gaming mode as well. You also get cloud saving, decent graphics, simple controls, and more. It’s obviously not the most polished game we’ve ever seen and you should probably cloud save twice just to make sure it sticks. However, there is enough content here to last you a long time if you like the game.

Bowmaster 2

Price: Free to play

Bowmaster 2 is an archery challenge game with a neat premise. You pull back the bow with one finger, aim with the other, and try to hit the targets. You get points for hitting the various targets and that helps you defeat opponents. It definitely has its ups and downs. Some players also enjoyed the first game a little bit more. Still, this is a reasonably decent little arcade shooter as long as you have the patience to get it right. Remember, this is an example of how developers don’t really develop archery games much.

Ninja’s Creed

Price: Free to play

Ninja’s Creed is a wildcard pick for this list. It’s technically a sniper style game. You go on missions, track targets, and take them out like most sniper games. However, you get to use a bow and arrow sometimes in this one. It operates in the spirit of an archery game, but it’s more violent than the usual competition style that most other archery games use. The game has plenty of weapons, various missions, and a few other fun things.

Stickman archery games

Tiny Archers

Price: Free to play

Tiny Archers is another popular archery game. It plays a little bit like a mix of tower defense and angry birds. You play as an archer on a tower and you fling arrows at oncoming bad guys to prevent them from storming your tower. The game includes four playable characters, various enemies, four story modes, 130 levels, and some RPG elements as well. It’s a bit simple, so those who need super engaging mechanics may need to look elsewhere. Otherwise, this is an excellent tower defense archery game.
